New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Player Prop Picks

The New England Patriots visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 of the 2022-23 NFL season. The Patriots opened their season with a lackluster loss against Miami, while the Steelers were involved in the craziest game from last Sunday, where they edged out the Bengals in overtime. Let’s take a look at the odds and some player props that jump out the most for this game on Sunday!

Najee Harris Over 0.5 Rushing Touchdowns

Najee Harris got injured last week, but by all accounts he should be ready to go on Sunday against the Patriots. Since Harris should be ready, expect the Steelers to get him involved early and often. The Steelers are going to want to get him in the rhythm of the game and not have Mitch Trubisky have to throw it all over the place. Harris is the Steelers’ best offensive talent, so expect him to get a lot of touches. Harris should also be used in a heavy dose down in the red zone, which is why the over here makes a lot of sense. I also don’t see how anyone can trust the Patriots defense just yet, especially after they got torched the way they did last week against Miami. This might be the most sure bet in this game, especially if Harris is healthy.

Mac Jones Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns

This might not jump out too many bettors, but I love this bet in this game. Jones got off to a rocky start last week by only throwing one touchdown and then one interception in Miami. This game against the Steelers is going to require the Patriots to pass more than they did last game, so expect Mac Jones to have a better game. The Steelers defense should show up here, but they don’t have TJ Watt, their best player, for a few weeks which is a major blow for the defense. Watt might be the best defensive player in the league next to Aaron Donald, so that loss will be felt in this game. The only reason this might not hit is because of the lack of receiving options the Patriots have. This game should be a bit of a shootout and a back and forth game, expect Jones to go over this prop bet.

Diontae Johnson Over 64.5 Receiving Yards

Johnson is Pittsburgh’s no. 1 receiving option and he’ll get the necessary targets to get to the over 64.5 receiving yards. Another reason why this bet should hit is because after Week 1, should you be that impressed with the New England defense? Belichick teams usually have good defenses, but Miami moved the ball pretty easily against the Patriots, especially through the air with Tua Tagovailoa. Diontae Johnson should get his yards because of that too. Trubisky also played well enough in Week 1, so he should have no problem finding Johnson when the Steelers need yards on offense. This is another bet that might not necessarily jump out to many people, but if you like consistency, ride with Johnson, who hit the over in receiving prop bets in eight of the 16 games he played in last year.
