New FC Cincinnati Sportsbook Expands Ohio Retail Betting

betmgm sportsbook apple icon 150x150The state of Ohio now has both retail sports betting and online sports betting totally available! And, while there is a clear convenience to online sports betting in the state, retail sports betting allows for simple, single wagers for more casual bettors, as well as an old school feel to sports wagering.

Plenty of different locations are allowing different retail sportsbooks to open up in Ohio, with one launching close to one of the state’s professional teams. With an in-person sportsbook taking bets close to TQL Stadium, let’s look at the current state of Ohio retail sports betting.

New Retail Sportsbook Opens Close To FC Cincinnati Stadium

The Buckeye State has added another retail sports betting option! FC Cincinnati, the professional soccer club in the arena, recently opened up a temporary retail sports betting location at Taft’s Ale House. FC Cincinnati’s home stadium, TQL Stadium, is located about half a mile from Taft’s Ale House, with an eight-minute walk between locations.

The sportsbook will be run by Superbook, an official sports betting partner of FC Cincinnati that’s based out of Las Vegas. Superbook will oversee not just FC Cincinnati’s in-person betting options, but also its mobile sports betting. Now that Superbook has launched in the state of Ohio, the mobile sportsbook is live in seven different states. The retail sportsbook itself, according to Play Ohio, features five different betting kiosks as well as a committed window in which sports bettors at Taft’s Ale House can claim winning tickets.

While this is definitely exciting news for Taft’s Ale House patrons and FC Cincinnati fans alike, keep in mind that it is only temporary. This is due to the fact that FC Cincinnati wishes to build its very own dedicated retail betting location near its home stadium.

Other Ohio Teams Opening Up Retail Sportsbooks

FC Cincinnati isn’t the only Ohio team with a retail sportsbook. In fact, the Cincinnati Reds have already opened a BetMGM Sportsbook retail spot at Great American Ballpark. The stadium kicked off its new in-person betting with big bets from former Cincinnati-area athletes and even a longtime Reds season ticket holder.

The other Major League Baseball team in the state, the Cleveland Guardians, are also planning to break ground on a BetMGM retail sportsbook at Progressive Field. Plus, the Cleveland Browns are looking to collaborate with Bally Bet Sportsbook on its own FirstEnergy Stadium wagering lounge. Although the Cincinnati Bengals have a partnership with Betfred Sports, the team has opted against a physical sportsbook.

About FC Cincinnati

FC Cincinnati joined the United Soccer League in 2016, with the team playing games at Nippert Stadium, the home field of the University of Cincinnati. In 2018, the soccer club officially expanded into the MLS, becoming the 26th team in the league.

The team currently competes in the Eastern Conference of the MLS with teams such as the Philadelphia Union, NY Red Bulls, and Orlando City SC, finishing fifth in the conference in 2022 after finishing with 49 total points. The team would lose to the Union in the postseason’s conference semifinals. The soccer club opens its 2023 season on February 23rd at home against Houston Dynamo FC.
