The Jets earned one of the most shocking upset wins of the season last week when backup quarterback Mike White threw for 405 yards in his first career start. What does that mean for the team moving forward? That’s very much up in the air, but I can tell you that Mike White suddenly makes the Thursday Night Football game against the Colts very intriguing. Let’s take a look at the best player prop bets available for this week’s game.

Ty Johnson Over 18.5 Receiving Yards
Given the passing distribution we’ve seen from Mike White in his limited time under center, I expected this line to be somewhere around 30 receiving yards. However, I believe we’re getting an excellent value on Johnson here. He has only played on about 30% of snaps over the past two weeks, but he has seen a total of 13 targets over that span and has 11 catches for 136 yards. I’m not projecting that type of massive receiving production to continue, but I can see Johnson getting another 3-4 targets quite easily. Assuming he continues his 11.0 yards per reception, he only needs two catches to hit the over on this prop.

Michael Pittman Jr. Anytime TD Scorer
The Colts’ second-year wide receiver continues to show his talent in an impressive breakout campaign, and he’s coming off the best two-game stretch of his career. He has scored three touchdowns in his last two games and now gets to face the Jets who have a mediocre secondary with nobody who can match Pittman’s capabilities. The Colts gave Pittman three red-zone targets last week, and with that a growing part of his game, he should have a great chance to find the end zone again this week. I’d play this up to even money given the plus matchup against the Jets.
Michael Carter Over 86.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards
Ty Johnson isn’t the only running back who has been exceeding expectations on the Jets lately. Rookie Michael Carter has averaged 139 yards from scrimmage per game over the past two weeks. He’s up over 70% of snaps in both of those games and has seen 21.5 touches per game over that span. Carter’s 14 targets last week were particularly impressive, and it’s evident that Mike White loves to throw to his running backs. The Colts have a strong run defense, but with Carter’s heavy usage likely not going away anytime soon, I’m going to continue to bet on his yards from scrimmage until sportsbooks adjust it to an appropriate number.
This is an awesome prop to parlay with the Michael Pittman touchdown prop as I believe the Colts’ offense has a great scoring game. While the late pick-six that sealed the win for the Titans last week will be everyone’s lasting memory, Wentz has mostly been playing much better football lately and has thrown for over 1.5 touchdowns in each of his past five games. Over their past three games, the Jets have allowed 2.7 passing touchdowns per game, so I’m surprised this number isn’t higher. I wouldn’t pay up too much on the juice on this prop, but I’m fairly confident Wentz can get to two passing touchdowns against a mediocre secondary.
