NFL Futures I’m Betting On Before Week 13

We took a week off from this futures column, but we’re back at it with some great values to showcase this week. We’re into the home stretch of the NFL season, but that doesn’t mean there still can’t be great value in betting on futures. My Week 11 bets were the Chiefs to win the AFC West and the Eagles to make the playoffs. Kansas City has since beaten the Raiders and saw the Chargers suffer a notable loss to the Broncos – if they beat Denver on Sunday, they will be in the driver’s seat in the division. Philadelphia lost a disappointing game to the Giants, but their remaining schedule is fairly easy and should be conducive to them making the playoffs. Let’s dive into some Week 13 futures.

Miami Dolphins to Make the Playoffs: +1000

I would have loved to have included this prop prior to the Dolphins beating the Panthers, but the value is still awesome here. Miami is riding a hot streak with four straight wins including a massive upset over the AFC-leading Ravens and now sit at 5-7. The Dolphins play a fairly easy remaining schedule with their next three weeks including the Giants and Jets surrounding a late bye week. Tua Tagovailoa’s play has steadily improved over the course of the season, and it’s no coincidence he has gotten better as Jaylen Waddle has progressed into one of the most productive wideouts in the NFL. Miami’s defense has regained the edge it had last year, and I wouldn’t put it past this team to earn an upset win over the Saints, Titans, or Patriots down the stretch. With an 8-9 record potentially being enough to earn the final Wild Card spot in the AFC, there’s no reason the Dolphins should be 10-to-1 underdogs to make the playoffs. There are plenty of 6-5 and 6-6 teams in the hunt, but Miami shouldn’t be written off just yet.

Jonathan Taylor Offensive Player of the Year: +225

We’re a little late to the party here, but I believe this is still a strong value on the player I have penciled in as the Offensive Player of the Year winner. Jonathan Taylor’s historic production has the Colts back in the hunt for a playoff spot in the AFC, and he’s on pace to finish with over 2,100 yards from scrimmage and 22 touchdowns. Those numbers aren’t quite enough to make him the MVP winner, even in a field where nobody has really stood out so far, but they are enough to make him a shoo-in for the Offensive Player of the Year. Cooper Kupp is riding a strong early-season stretch, but he hasn’t scored a touchdown in three games and his odds have been slipping lately. Perhaps most importantly, it’s fairly easy to make the case that the Colts are much more dependent on Taylor than the Rams are on Kupp, and that’s enough to give the Indianapolis running back the edge for this award. It’s going to be one of these two players when it’s all said and done, especially with Deebo Samuel expected to miss a couple of games, and Taylor at anything over 2-to-1 odds is a great value.
