NFL Week 16 Line Movement: Biggest Moves At Online Sportsbooks

Just a few weeks remain in the NFL regular season, and a few starting quarterbacks are questionable to suit up for Week 16 games, which could move some point spreads. For the first time this season, the league will have a pair of games on Saturday, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers at the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. ET in NFL Week 16 action.

Below, we analyze the biggest moves on the point spread, moneyline, and total relative to the look-ahead lines posted before Week 15 games. These shifts can occur due to results, injuries, and market movement, and the differences in line movement can help you find value when considering NFL Week 16 bets at your favorite sportsbook apps

NFL Week 16 Line Movement

Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs: Houston Texans +158 on Caesars

  • Patrick Mahomes went down with an ankle sprain during a 21-7 win at Cleveland on Sunday and is now considered week-to-week, which could force Carson Wentz into a starting role this Saturday. The potential quarterback change has moved the Chiefs from favorites of 3.5 or four points to 2.5-point home underdogs. The Chiefs moneyline has flipped from -200 to +118 at most books, and the total has dropped from 44.5 to 40.5 points with Mahomes expected to miss at least one game. The Texans emerged from their bye with a win over Miami and are relatively healthy, but defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi (ankle) suffered an injury in Week 15, and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair remains suspended.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens: Baltimore Ravens -340 on DraftKings

  • When the Steelers beat the Ravens 18-16 in Week 11, T.J. Watt played a huge role. Now Watt (ankle) is questionable for Saturday’s rematch along with cornerback Donte Jackson (back) and rushing specialist Justin Fields (abdomen), so the market has adjusted by shifting the Ravens from favorites of 4.5 points to 6.5 points at home. The Steelers were unable to hang with the Philadelphia Eagles last week, and the Ravens emerged from their bye with a convincing 35-14 win over the lowly Giants.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks: Minnesota Vikings -134 on FanDuel

  • Geno Smith took a low hit during a 30-13 home loss to the Packers in Week 15 and might be questionable this week. The Vikings will be on a short week after hosting the Chicago Bears on Monday night, but they have moved past a key number from two-point favorites to 3.5 or 4.5 points depending on the book. Seattle’s poor performance against the Packers, along with Kenneth Walker’s continued absence due to a calf injury, might have as much to do with the line movement as Smith’s injury, considering X-rays came back clean for the quarterback. The total has dropped from 45.5 to 41.5 points for this game, and the Seahawks are now +190 on the moneyline at some books.

New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills: Buffalo Bills -1100 on Bet365

  • The Bills’ offense is absolutely rolling, with 30-plus points in eight straight games. Josh Allen was briefly evaluated for injury during a 48-42 win at Detroit, but the MVP frontrunner was cleared, and Buffalo is gaining steam ahead of this home divisional matchup, moving from 12- to 14-point favorites on the spread at most books. The Bills have covered the spread in seven of their last nine games when favored. The Patriots have failed to cover in three of their last four, with each contest going over the total line.

New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons: Atlanta Falcons -500 on BetRivers

  • The Giants are down to their third quarterback since they benched and cut Daniel Jones, with Tim Boyle slated to start in Week 16 if Tommy DeVito (concussion) and Drew Lock (knee) are both out. While the Falcons will have to travel home after a Monday night matchup at Las Vegas, they’re already moving from favorites of 8.5 to nine- or 10-point home favorites against a Giants team that has lost nine straight with just one cover in that span. Elite defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence (elbow) is out for the year, and the Giants’ front office is likely looking to secure the No. 1 overall pick.

Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles: Philadelphia Eagles -210 on BetRivers

  • This vital NFC East clash has only seen modest movement so far, with the Eagles moving off the key number of three to 3.5- or four-point favorites at most books. Philadelphia has won 10 straight, including a 26-18 win at Washington in Week 11. The Commanders lost tight end Zach Ertz to a concussion during a narrow 20-19 win in New Orleans in Week 15.

San Francisco 49ers at Miami Dolphins: Miami Dolphins +110 on Caesars

  • The spread hasn’t moved much for this nonconference bout between teams with long-shot playoff hopes, but the total has dipped a bit from 48.5 to 47.5 or 46.5 points at some books. The Dolphins lost Jaylen Waddle (knee), and receiver Grant DuBose suffered a scary head injury during a 20-12 loss at Houston in Week 15. After erupting for 38 points in a blowout win over the Bears, the 49ers were held out of the end zone in a rain-soaked 12-6 loss to the Rams last Thursday night.
