How To Bet On NFL Team Playoff Odds

NFL futures have become a fairly popular bet but there are a few things to note about it. Each sportsbook has different rules for futures, so be sure to read the terms upon betting. Now, NFL team playoff futures are fairly straightforward, if you bet on a team to make the playoffs and they do, you win your bet. If they miss, you lose, and vice versa.

Most sportsbooks will not allow you to parlay futures within the same sport but some might have some different rules where you can. For the most part, your money once wagered will be tied to that singular bet until the outcome is determined.

This raises a question for the user — Do you want your money tied up for weeks-months at a time? Your money is safe within the sportsbook until the outcome. Some sportsbooks will offer cash-out options if the bet is nearing completion and users might look for an early payout to get their money back. But it is a long period of time, so be sure to take this into account before placing your wager.

Most major sportsbooks will offer NFL playoff futures, including to make or miss the playoffs. If you are a new user, take advantage of new-user bonuses by clicking through banners and links in this page. Also take advantage of futures promotions offered throughout the year from sportsbooks.

When Is Best Time To Place NFL Team Playoff Bets

NFL team playoff odds are released in the Spring, generally around or after the NFL Draft. There is no wrong time to place a futures bet, but be wary of when value shifts. If you are looking to buy in early on a projected fringe playoff team, getting them before the season starts is a wise move. If they start out strong, the value will start to drop on them making the playoffs.

Making early futures bets carries some risk and the risk remains throughout most of the season given the unfortunate events of injuries. A massive quarterback injury can completely derail a season and send the odds and chances crashing. These things can happen in-season as well, so injury risk is certainly going to be there no matter the time you place your bet.

If you are looking to make in-season futures bets, you can take advantage of a possible slow starting team where odds may start to shift away from them making the playoffs or a team that starts out hot capitalizing on a weak schedule, where odds might be better to miss the playoffs from a value standpoint.

NFL Playoff Best Bets

minnesota vikingsMinnesota Vikings: You can find the Vikings at around even money to make the playoffs as we head into the 2022 season, and that presents highly enticing value. Minnesota should be reinvigorated under new head coach Kevin O’Connell after the Mike Zimmer regime got stale. Kirk Cousins should be even more efficient under the Sean McVay disciple. With Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen, the Vikings have an elite core of skill players as well.

On defense, the additions of Za’Darius Smith and Harrison Phillips are huge for the front seven both in pass-rush and run defense. Rookies Lewis Cine and Andrew Booth Jr. could immediately raise the floor of the secondary, as well. Danielle Hunter also enters this offseason healthy after missing half of last season. Overall, this defense should be much-improved from last year.

The NFC is fairly wide open this year with three Wild Card spots up for grabs, and the Vikings shouldn’t be counted out in their division with the Packers expected to take a step back following the loss of Davante Adams. Aided by four total games against the Bears and Lions, Minnesota faces the 20th-ranked schedule in terms of opponents’ combined 2021 win percentages, and they should parlay that into a playoff appearance.

cincinnati bengalsCincinnati Bengals: The Bengals are at a massive value right now. After representing the AFC in the Super Bowl, Cincinnati’s roster has only improved. The offensive line is much-improved following the arrivals of La’el Collins, Alex Cappa, and Ted Karras, and the Bengals’ biggest weakness has suddenly become a relative strength. With more time in the pocket, Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins should keep lighting up defenses.

There has also been an influx of young talent on this roster. Rookies Daxton Hill and Cam Taylor-Britt help shore up what was already one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Would-be second-year player Joseph Ossai has immense upside as a designated pass-rusher after missing all of his rookie season. Jackson Carman should take a significant step forward in his second season.

The Bengals face the 3rd-toughest schedule this year, so it’s understandable if that gives you pause. Such is life as the division winner – you face a first-place schedule. However, there’s reason to believe that this roster should be even better than last year, and it’s difficult to imagine Joe Burrow missing out on the playoffs entirely after his phenomenal sophomore season.
