Early NFL Week 15 Bets to Place

Week 14 is already underway with a bang. Baker Mayfield, who had nothing to do with the Rams just a week ago, led Los Angeles to a stunning comeback win over the Raiders just two days after he was claimed off waivers from the Panthers. That game shifted the narrative around both teams. What else could shift based on Week 14’s action? Take a look at which bets are worth locking in sooner rather than later.

This line could move in either direction depending on how the offense looks with Brock Purdy at the helm this weekend. I’ll say it moves slightly in the direction of the 49ers. If Purdy (with great weapons around him) comes out and looks respectable against the Buccaneers and their tough defense, that should be enough for the 49ers to be favored by at least a field goal in Seattle.

San Francisco’s defense has easily been the NFL’s most dominant unit since the start of November, and a win over Tampa would go to show the Niners can still easily capture the NFC West regardless of who is playing quarterback.

While the Seahawks have had a serious home-field advantage in the past, they’re 3-2 at home this season and haven’t looked any worse on the road. The 49ers’ defense is good enough to go into Seattle and assert itself against Geno Smith. I like 49ers -1 while oddsmakers figure out what they have in Purdy.

Baltimore Ravens (+3) vs. Cleveland Browns

Oddsmakers have not been high on the Ravens lately. To their credit, they didn’t cover against either the Jaguars or Broncos, and now Lamar Jackson is set to miss this weekend’s matchup with the Steelers. That could set up some great value for the Ravens in Week 15.

While a road matchup in Cleveland in December is never easy, the Browns looked far from what they wanted to be in Deshaun Watson’s team debut. Cleveland had nothing happening on the offensive side of the ball against an awful Texans team, and while some defensive and special teams plays helped it turn into a win, it’s clear the Browns have a long way to go with Watson under center.

Another week of Watson struggles will at least narrow this line and potentially make Baltimore the favorite. Ravens +3 is a nice value right now.

Dallas Cowboys (-6) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Cowboys are massive 17.5-point favorites against the lowly Texans this weekend, so this line is narrower than you’d expect. The Jaguars have played more than a few close games this season, but they weren’t very competitive against the Lions and are trying to get Trevor Lawrence through a toe injury at the moment.

With Dallas facing Houston and the Jaguars playing in Tennessee this weekend, Cowboys -6 might be the best value you’ll be able to get on Mike McCarthy’s team. The Cowboys have flashed their strength on both sides of the ball in recent weeks with blowout wins over the Vikings and Colts. There’s no reason they can’t do it again in Jacksonville.

Cincinnati Bengals (-2.5) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If the Buccaneers can’t get past Brock Purdy and the 49ers, as good as San Francisco’s defense is, it’s going to be tough sledding against Joe Burrow and the Bengals. Yes, Burrow has the offense clicking and Ja’Marr Chase’s return has made the passing game that much more dangerous, but Cincinnati has also been playing strong defense of late. The Bengals’ defense should overmatch Tom Brady and a Buccaneers offense that continues to struggle mightily outside of those final few minutes against the Saints.

Burrow, of course, is good enough to overcome the Bucs’ tough defense, especially with Shaquil Barrett’s absence limiting Tampa’s pass-rush. Burrow seems to get better as the season goes on, and I’d expect him to take care of business here. Bengals by a field goal or less is a nice value before their very winnable matchup with the Browns.
