Early NFL Week 18 Bets to Place
The NFL regular season is nearing an end, which might mean the real chaos is just beginning. Week 17 is here, but this week we’re going to focus on Week 18. One final slate of regular season games means there are still 16 more games you can bet early and take advantage of potential line movement. Here are some bets worth locking in sooner rather than later.
New York Jets (Pick’ Em) vs. Miami Dolphins
This is one worth monitoring due to injury instead of just Week 17 results. It’ll be worth keeping a close eye on the tea leaves as we await word on Tua Tagovailoa’s status for Week 18. His status is at the very least up in the air as Miami tries to protect his health after multiple concussions, and the Jets’ big win over the Dolphins earlier in the season proved it takes more than just Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to beat their defense.
It’s worth keeping an eye on Week 17 results as well. The Jets have a high ceiling – a big game by Mike White and another great day from the defense may be enough to move this line in favor of the Jets, as would a bad showing by the Dolphins in New England.
Houston Texans (+2.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Texans have looked much more competitive lately. The Colts…have not. Indianapolis looks ready to fold up shop amid one of the most tumultuous seasons in franchise history. I don’t like the talent or the coaching in Houston, but the Texans are at least playing hard as their season nears an end.
Knowing Houston could manage a win over a depleted Texans team, it can pull off a win or at least a very narrow loss against a Colts team that likely won’t score many points. The Jaguars don’t have anything to play for in Week 17 ahead of their win-or-go-home Week 18 matchup, so it wouldn’t shock me if the Texans kept that one close and forced some line movement in their direction. Texans +2.5 is a solid value today.
Cincinnati Bengals (-6) vs. Baltimore Ravens
This is a volatile line for a few reasons, so I’d be cautious, but the Bengals look like a team that can beat the Ravens by at least a touchdown at home if they’re playing for something. That hinges on Week 17. If the Bengals beat Buffalo and the Ravens lose to Pittsburgh, this game suddenly won’t matter and won’t be worth taking seriously.
If at least one of those doesn’t happen, Burrow will face an offensively challenged Ravens team with the division on the line. Cincinnati looks like the better team right now and has a real chance to win comfortably in that scenario. A win over the Bills would only reinforce that.
Kansas City Chiefs (-10.5) vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The odds of Jarrett Stidham coming out and lighting up the 49ers’ defense are slim to none. Stidham hasn’t looked like a capable NFL starter to this point, and a Chiefs team that could very well be playing to retain the No. 1 seed in Week 18 won’t take its foot off the gas against such an inexperienced quarterback in a bad offense.
The Raiders aren’t the same team they were when they hung 30 points on Kansas City early in the season. As long as the Chiefs are playing for that first-round bye, they should be able to win by at least a couple touchdowns just as they did against Seattle in Week 16.
