Lookahead NFL odds & Lines for Week 3

Early NFL Week 3 Bets To Place

Each NFL season produces more than a few overreactions to what we saw in Week 1. Those overreactions are reflected in some of the Week 2 betting lines, and they’re also reflected in some Week 3 lines. Let’s take a look at which bets are worth locking in before Week 2 restores some reality in the NFL.

Cincinnati Bengals (-6) vs. New York Jets

In the words of Aaron Rodgers, r-e-l-a-x. Joe Burrow is not going to throw four interceptions every week, and the Bengals seemed poised for a bounce-back game against the depleted Cowboys in Week 2. The defense should perform very well against backup Cooper Rush, but if the offense looks like it did in 2021, you could see this line shift further in the direction of the Bengals.

Without Zach Wilson, you could make the case the Jets are the worst team in the NFL. It won’t be hard to make the case that the Bengals can go into New York and beat the Jets by a touchdown or more once the taste of the loss to the Steelers is out of all of our mouths.

If the Bengals pour it on in Dallas, money might come in quickly on the Bengals and move the line to -7 or -8 over the Jets. That, of course, is a huge difference if Cincinnati ends up winning by a touchdown.

Pittsburgh Steelers Moneyline (+143) vs. Cleveland Browns

Oddsmakers are doubting that the Steelers can beat the Patriots at home in Week 2, but fans aren’t. The majority of money is on Pittsburgh, and there’s a good chance that trend will continue into Week 3 if the Steelers take care of business against the Patriots.

Even without T.J. Watt, the Steelers’ defense has enough in the tank to win games against the shaky offenses of the Patriots and Browns. Minkah Fitzpatrick is off to a great start as he looks to prove his 2021 was just an aberration, and the cornerback room looks deep even without Joe Haden.

If the defense keeps the Patriots’ offense out of whack in Week 2, more people are going to realize this unit can do the same to Jacoby Brissett in Week 3. If you’re confident in the Steelers’ direction, grab some value early.

New Orleans Saints (-2.5) vs. Carolina Panthers

The Saints are already slight road favorites against the Panthers, but Week 2 could push the spread farther in New Orleans’ direction.

This weekend brings a great opportunity for the Saints to prove themselves after barely escaping the Falcons in Week 1. Dennis Allen’s unit has a chance to notch its fifth consecutive regular season win over Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, one that would establish the Saints as serious contenders in the NFC and separate them from the Panthers by an even wider margin.

At the same time, a Panthers loss to the Giants would say a lot about Matt Rhule’s group and also threatens to push the line further in the Saints’ direction. As long as you can get the Saints by less than a field goal, this is a great value.

Denver Broncos (-3) vs. San Francisco 49ers

Betting this game early could work both ways, considering how little each team proved in Week 1. If you’re a believer in Trey Lance and excuse the 49ers’ struggles as a result of the weather, 49ers +3 or +130 on the moneyline could be better plays now than after a potential blowout win over the Seahawks this weekend.

However, this line could shift significantly in the Broncos’ direction if Lance shows more of the same this week. Denver is a team that looks like it needs to clean some things up after Week 1. The 49ers, on the other hand, could have a problem on their hands unless Lance shows he’s better than he was against the Bears.

With home-field advantage for Denver and a great bounce-back opportunity against the Texans in Week 2, Broncos bettors might want to lock this in at +3.
