NHL Alumni Association & Entain Partner To Encourage Responsible Gambling For Hockey Bettors

The NHL Alumni Association and Entain Foundation U.S. have announced a new partnership to encourage hockey fans to gamble responsibly. This new three-year agreement makes Entain an Official Responsible Gaming Partner of the NHLAA.

NHLAA & Entain to promote responsible gambling

Widely known as the leading program advocating for former NHL players, the NHLAA has set out to help create a safer gambling environment for hockey betting. To do so, the brand enlisted the help of Entain, a world leader in gambling regulation, research, education and treatment.

Entain intends to contribute to the NHLAA’s health and wellness programs as part of the partnership. Additionally, Entain will make its responsible gambling education programs available to NHLAA members.

Glenn Healy, President & Executive Director of the NHL Alumni Association, commented on the announcement, saying:

“The NHLAA is proud to be entering this new partnership with Entain Foundation and our team is aligned with their vision of promoting responsible gaming research and education tools to sports fans.We look forward to using the collective voice of our NHL Alumni members, each of which have paved the way for the game we love today, to champion safe gambling practices for all.”

Future educational program & affordability checks

This new partnership between Entain and NHLAA will also pave the way for the development of a new educational program. Through patented technology provided by Wager Score, bettors will be able to share affordability data and gain data-driven insight into their gambling habits. In turn, this will better inform each hockey fan’s gambling experience and allow for a more responsible sports betting environment overall.

Entain and Wager Score recently launched a pilot program in Ontario that aims to safeguard gamblers through affordability checks. In order to wager, these bettors must first submit documentation to confirm financial stability. Entain looks to integrate this program into its newest NHLAA partnership as well.

Martin Lycka, Entain’s Senior Vice President for American Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, said:

“Entain Foundation U.S. is proud to support the NHL Alumni Association and its members. As sports betting continues to grow in popularity throughout North America, it is crucial that we expand our educational efforts. This new partnership reflects this importance and will ensure that NHL Alumni and fans can gain access to impactful, educational programs on how to avoid gambling harm.”

Entain, NHLAA part of larger responsible gambling initiative

This latest partnership comes at a time when responsible gambling discussion is heating up nationwide. U.S. sports betting popularity has grown at a monumental pace. However, safeguards against gambling addiction struggle to keep stride. That’s where associations like the NHLAA and brands like Entain come in.

For example, various sports leagues have joined the American Gaming Association campaign Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. this year, including the NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL.

Most recently, Entain was awarded the title of “Safer Gambling Operator of the Year” at the EGR North America Awards in late April. This newest accomplishment further solidifies Entain’s commitment to creating a more responsible gambling environment for everyone involved.

Now, hockey fans can join in on the sports betting excitement with more responsible gambling safeguards than ever.
