1. Montana Legislature fails to override Governor Bullock’s veto on private sports betting. Two sports betting bills passed earlier this year in Montana, one to have sports betting operated by private operators, and the other by the Montana Lottery. Bullock vetoed the sports betting bill that would have allowed for private providers. The Senate and the House needed 2/3 of their votes to override the governor’s veto.
2. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo still doesn’t expect mobile sports betting to come to The Empire State this year. State Senator Joseph Addabbo is not giving up hope though. There is a possibility mobile sports betting could sneak its way into a large bill at the last second. New York has about a week to get it done before the end of the session.
3. Keep an eye on New Hampshire. We will find out this week if the state is going to legalize sports betting this year.

Women’s World Cup
Germany vs Spain 12:00 PM
Even without one of the best players in the Women’s game, Dzsenifer Marozsan, Germany is still an elite team. There are probably only a handful of teams in the world that can realistically hand with the USA team, and Germany is one of them. Spain is not. With Marozsan out until at least the knockout stage, Germany will be looking to solidify a spot in the second round with a win today. Needing a point or a win in the third game to advance is a pressure that a team like Germany would love to avoid.
Germany has been unbeaten in their last 13 matches, the longest streak of any team in the tournament. After back-to-back disappointing finishes in the last two World Cups (lost in QF in 2011 and took fourth in 2015), Germany will be looking to show why they are the #2 team in the world. When you get the second-best team in the world at plus money against the 13th-ranked team, you take it.
Major League Baseball
St. Louis Cardinals vs Miami Marlins 7:10 PM
Some sports bettors will tell you not to bet against a player making their major league debut since hitters in the Majors have never seen that pitcher before. Well, when that pitcher makes his debut for the Miami Marlins and they have the worst offense in baseball, that changes things. Jordan Yamamoto will be making his debut after getting called up from Double-A Jacksonville. In Double-A this year, Yamamoto has a 3.58 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP in 12 starts. Control seems to be an issue, as he has allowed 25 walks this season.
The Marlins looked like a new team from May 17th to June 5th, going 13-5. Since then, they have lost six straight, including the first two games of this series. The Cardinals have Mile Mikolas (4-6 4.54 ERA) on the mound tonight. His ERA is a little inflated, but he has a solid 1.19 WHIP. I like him to lower his ERA after this one. The Cardinals are 27-25 this season against RHP, the Marlins are 15-31. The Cardinals provide the best value bet in the MLB today.

National Hockey League
St. Louis Blues vs Boston Bruins 8:00 PM
Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals is tonight. The Blues went from last place at the start of the 2019 calendar year to one win away from winning it all. This will be the 17th time the Finals have gone to a Game 7, and the home team has won 12 of them. The last team to win a Finals Game 7 was the Bruins back in 2011.
The Blues may have blown their best opportunity to win the title, losing Game 6 at home 5-1. If they are going to win in Boston, they are going to need to get something going on their power plays (1-18 this series). Tuukka Rask has been excellent for the Bruins this postseason. In the finals, Rask has only allowed 12 goals in the six games, the Bruins have scored 21. Rask has allowed two goals or less in regulation in five of those six games.
This is the first Stanley Cup Finals Game 7 to be played in Boston. The crowd is going to be crazy and the Bruins have the momentum after picking up the Game 6 win. The Blues have done well to make it this far and force a Game 7, but I think the Bruins are just too good. Rask should have another great game in net and the city of Boston picks up another championship. That would make them the current champions in three of the four major sports (sorry Celtics).
