The Florida Panthers have been on such a fun run lately, and I believe they’ve got momentum on their side. I liked Florida to take down Toronto in the elimination game against the Maple Leafs a week ago, and I’m staying with the team that has been absolutely dangerous on the road. Since losing the first matchup of Round 1 against the Boston Bruins, the Panthers have gone 6-0 on the road, outscoring opponents 24-15 along the way. Matthew Tkachuk leads the team with 16 playoff points, while Brandon Montour, Sam Reinhart, and Carter Verhaeghe have combined for 17 goals. Florida goalie Sergei Bobrovsky (.918 SV%) hasn’t allowed more than two goals since the end of April.
However, Carolina isn’t going to be an easy team to take down. Frederik Anderson has the lowest GAA in the postseason at 1.80, while Jaccob Slavin (+12) has been downright dangerous on defense. That being said, Carolina has been very disappointing when it comes to the special teams. Carolina is 18.92% on the power play this postseason, which has been significantly lower than eliminated teams like the Edmonton Oilers (46.15%) and Winnipeg Jets (41.67%). It’s a pretty even matchup between an unstoppable force and an immovable object, so I’ll go with value on a Florida team that’s been ripping it up away from home.
