Penn National Barstool Sportsbook Create Soft Launch in Pennsylvania

Earlier this week, Penn National and the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced that the Barstool Sportsbook mobile app will go through a testing period in the state between September 15-17.

“The Barstool Sportsbook app is the centerpiece of our Company’s omnichannel strategy,” said Jay Snowden, President, and CEO of Penn National. “Since forming our exclusive sports betting and iGaming partnership with Barstool Sports in January, our product, marketing, and operations teams have worked hand-in-hand with Barstool’s top talent, including Dave Portnoy and Dan’ Big Cat’ Katz, to create a sports betting experience that we’re confident will appeal to Barstool’s army of loyal followers, as well as our extensive database of existing casino customers and sports betting fans at large.”

The official launch date of the Barstool Sportsbook app is set for September 18, a day after the testing period is over. There are some final regulatory approvals that the company has to go through, which is why there is a testing period, but everything should be set for the launch date.

If you were looking to get in on the testing period for the Barstool Sportsbook app, you are already too late. Penn National has a group of testers that will be placing real money bets on the sportsbook app during the three day testing period.

The bettors will be able to use the entire Barstool Sportsbook app as a whole and see what works and what does not work. This will allow Penn National to make some necessary tweaks just in-case there are a few bugs in the system.

Everyone involved with the Barstool Sportsbook mobile wants to make sure that there are no hiccups for Pennsylvania bettors looking to sign-up on their platform when its time.

The soft launch will be between September 15-17, and the app will officially launch in Pennsylvania on September 18. Some final regulatory hurdles need to be dealt with, but all should be good by the launch date.

Barstool Sports Controversy

Barstool Sports has been in the news in recent months for some of the controversies that have gone around its business. Back in July, videos resurfaced from 2016 of Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy talking about Colin Kapernick, which was received negatively by social media.

Shortly after the controversy, Portnoy was then asked to be interviewed by President Donald Trump, where creator Dan Katz was uninformed that this was happening. The situation caused a rift in the Barstool company, which was put to rest shortly after.

Regardless of controversies, Barstool Sports is here to stay, and the launch of their sportsbook app is only going to help this company grow. The partnership between Penn National and Barstool Sports is going to be a perfect match when it is all said and done.

Pennsylvania will be the first state to get the new sports betting app, but it will soon be in states like New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, and beyond. This company continues to grow in the right direction, and could easily become one of the market leaders in sports betting over the next few years.
