Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets Player Prop Picks

The late game for the Christmas Day slate features the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. There are plenty of terrific player props to bet on, so check out which ones are our favorites for this Western Conference matchup below.

Nikola Jokic Over 11.5 Rebounds (-140)

Deandre Ayton may be a great basketball player, but nobody is keeping Nikola Jokic off the boards. Ayton struggled with Steven Adams on Friday night, allowing ten rebounds to Adams in just the first half of the Suns’ matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Phoenix ranks 27th in defensive rebounding percentage, which should allow Joker to get a handful of offensive rebounds fairly easily; Ayton often doesn’t do a great job blocking out on that end of the floor.

Jokic should play 40+ minutes in this game, and it’s difficult to see him falling short of 12 rebounds; he has pulled down at least 12 boards in four of the past six games. Michael Porter Jr’s return shouldn’t impact his production on the glass, as Jokic will spend more time around the rim looking for offensive rebounds and less time shooting.

Aaron Gordon Over 15.5 Points (-115)

Gordon has evolved this season, averaging the second-most points in his career with by far the best efficiency; he’s posting over 17 points per game on 61% shooting from the field! In addition, he’s shooting a career-best 38.7% from behind the arc, giving the Denver Nuggets yet another weapon from deep.

What has impressed me the most about Gordon this season is his willingness to bang around in the paint. He doesn’t just do it because he has to, he does it because he clearly wants to and it’s best for him and the team. Gordon recognizes that he’s a mismatch against a lot of teams, and Phoenix is included in that list.

Since Cameron Johnson suffered a significant injury, Torrey Craig has often been deployed at the power forward position for Phoenix. While Craig is a terrific three-point shooter for the Suns, he is considered undersized to play the four at 6-foot-7. Gordon has two inches over Craig and ten or twenty pounds.

Gordon will likely focus on “burying” Craig underneath for some easy buckets and gain trips to the foul line in the process. The inevitable defensive focus on Jokic should also free Gordon up for cuts to the rim. He could easily finish with 20-25 points in this matchup.

Bruce Brown Over 0.5 Threes (-145)

Brown is one of many Nuggets players who is shooting the lights out of the ball from deep; he’s shot 40.8% from behind the arc this season. Brown serves as a “Swiss Army Knife” player for the Nuggets, doing a little bit of everything.

Brown has hit at least one three-pointer in five straight games and eight of his past ten. With Jokic commanding most of the Suns’ attention on defense, Brown should be able to bubble up from the baseline, or relocate, to get open when Joker gets double-teamed.

Phoenix ranks 24th in opponent 3P% (three-point percentage) and Brown should have multiple opportunities to knock down a three. Consider parlaying this with another prop, like Jokic over on rebounds, to improve the odds you’re getting.
