Premier Lacrosse League Week 1 Odds on DraftKings Sportsbook
Contents
DraftKings Sportsbook was the official partner of the Premier Lacrosse League during their second season, which had to be turned into a shorter event due to Covid. However, the sportsbook and PLL are back again for the league’s third official season. This year there is more normalcy to the season and more data for the sportsbook to use. This means that there are even more wagers available for the PLL.
Week One Odds
Currently, there are odds up for three of the five games this weekend. The Sunday matchup odds will most likely come online following the conclusion of Friday night’s game between the Redwoods and Cannons. This is because the Redwoods and Cannons will be participating in each one of those Sunday games.
Redwoods vs Cannons
Spread: Redwoods -1.5
Over/under: 22.5
Moneyline: Redwoods -167 : Cannons +130
Chaos vs Whipsnakes
Spread: Whipsnakes -2.5
Over/under: 22.5
Moneyline: Whipsnakes -278 : Chaos +210
Atlas vs Archers
Spread: Archers -1.5
Over/under: 22.5
Moneyline: Archers -215 : Atlas +165
Looking at these odds, I think that there are a few values. The first is Archers -1.5. The Atlas are still in the midst of a rebuild, and the Archers have to be a top-3 team going into the season. They looked great in their training camp scrimmage and believe that this game ends up in a blowout. There simply is too much firepower on this Archers squad for the Atlas defense to handle.
The second value is the over on the Chaos and Whipsnakes. There were not a ton of games that hit the over last season, but if I was going to risk it with any one of these three, it would be the Chaos and Whips. The Whipsnakes offense is much superior to the Choas defense, and the Choas offense is going to produce enough to hit that 22.5 mark, in my opinion.
Player Future Odds
Something newly added to DraftKings Sportsbook is the PLL player future odds. The sportsbook has added several categories, including MVP, Top Goal Scorer, Top Two-Point Goal Scorer, and Top Point Scorer (Assist+Goals). These are all excellent additions to the plethora of wagers on DraftKings Sportsbook for the PLL.
The favorites for MVP include Lyle Thompson, Matt Rambo, and Tom Schreiber. This will be Lyle Thompson’s first season in the PLL, and he is widely considered the best player in the world. Meanwhile, Rambo and Schreiber have both shown they can dominate in the PLL rule set. However, my favorite bet is none of these three and is, in fact, last year’s MVP Zed Williams at +1,000. The way that Williams gets whatever he wants in that Whipsnakes’ offense means that he will put up the stats needed for MVP and do so on a winning team.
There are also three fun over/under season-long wagers, Most Points in Single Game, Most Assists in Single Game, and Most Goals in Single Game. Those lines sit at 9.5, 6.5, and 6.5, respectively. I believe that the over will hit on all three at some point this season, most likely in a crazy back and forth matchup. The PLL has some absolute studs, and there are times in lacrosse where a player really takes over. Grant Ament and Matt Rambo both have an opportunity to hit the assist/point total, while Lyle Thompson and Zed Williams would be my favorite to break the goal over/under.
