Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers Player Prop Picks
At the time I’m writing this, Jimmy Garoppolo remains in concussion protocol and is listed as questionable for this game. As such, I don’t have some player props available that I’d be interested in for Raiders pass catchers. Pay attention to the injury reports before placing any wagers on this game.
Keenan Allen Over 84.5 Receiving Yards (-114 FanDuel)
The new Chargers offense under Kellen Moore has been an incredible boost to Keenan Allen’s receiving production. The veteran wideout has been dominant to start the year with 10.6 catches for 134 yards per game. He already ranks top ten in target share and targets per route run, and he might see even more volume moving forward given the season-ending injury to Mike Williams.
The Raiders play man coverage at the 13th-highest rate in the NFL, and Allen is dominant against man coverage, ranking fourth in the NFL in target share. The Raiders’ secondary has struggled to start this season as they rank just 21st in yards per attempt allowed and are one of five teams that have allowed over a 50% success rate to opposing quarterbacks. Justin Herbert should take advantage, and Allen is his top target.
Justin Herbert Over 279.5 Passing Yards (-115 BetMGM)
Justin Herbert seems to be enjoying life under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. He ranks third in EPA+CPOE composite behind only Tua Tagovailoa and Brock Purdy. Herbert also ranks third in yards per attempt at 7.8 and first in completion percentage at 74.4%. Those efficiency numbers underscore his impressive effectiveness in this offense.
Like I mentioned in the Keenan Allen section above, the Raiders run a ton of man coverage, and Herbert excels against it – he has the second-highest passer rating in the NFL against man coverage. Herbert has 280+ passing yards in two of his three games this season, including 405 passing yards against the Vikings last week.
Davante Adams Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+110 FanDuel)
With Jimmy Garoppolo’s status for this week unclear, I don’t have access to receiving yardage lines for Raiders players when I’m writing this. However, I like this plus value on Davante Adams to score a touchdown against the Chargers’ awful pass defense. Los Angeles ranks 28th in passing EPA allowed this season and they’re tied for the third-most passing touchdowns allowed.
Adams is fourth in the NFL in red zone targets this season and that won’t change regardless of who’s under center. In fact, if it’s rookie Aidan O’Connell making his first start, he might lean on the veteran wideout even more. The Chargers don’t have the cornerbacks to match Adams on the perimeter so this is a strong matchup for him.
