San Francisco 49ers vs. Atlanta Falcons Player Prop Picks
The 3-2 49ers take on the 2-3 Falcons Sunday in Atlanta. The 49ers decided to stay on the East Coast after their week 5 win versus the Panthers which will allow them to adjust to the time change. The Falcons return home after a frustrating roughing the passer penalty cost them a chance to comeback against Tampa Bay. Let’s examine four prop bets regarding the yardage totals of a few key players to this game.
Jeff Wilson Jr. Over/Under 64.5 rushing yards
I’m taking Jeff Wilson Jr. to rush for at least 65 rushing yards versus the Falcons. Since RB Elijah Mitchell’s injury, Wilson has taken over the role of lead back for the 49ers offense. He has run for at least 70 yards in each of the past four games and went for a season high 120 yards on 17 carries last week. Even when the 49ers added tailback Tevin Coleman for depth, Wilson’s rushing performance increased. He also goes up against a Falcons defense which allows 114.8 rush yards per game, so Wilson
should have no issue finding open run lanes.
Marcus Mariota Over/Under 194.5 pass yards
Expect QB Marcus Mariota to fall short of throwing for 195 passing yards. Mariota will face the 49ers #3 pass defense, who only give up 177.8 yards per game. Additionally, HC Arthur Smith has established a run first offense which keeps the ball out of Mariota’s hands. Mariota has also passed for under 150 yards in his last two games and completed only 56% and 38.5% of his passes the past two weeks. This will make it hard for him to get the passing game going so don’t expect Mariota to hit 195 yards.
Drake London Over/Under 48.5 Receiving Yards
Though the Falcons first round pick Drake London has shown promise to start his rookie season, I predict London will fall short of 49 receiving yards. Like Mariota, London faces the challenge of going up against the 3rd best pass defense in the league. Even with injuries to safety Jimmie Ward and CB Emmanuel Moseley, gaining yards and big plays are tough against the stingy 49ers secondary. Though London’s uses his unique skillset to out-maneuver defenders for the ball, he’s only caught 6 receptions on 14 targets the past two weeks. Mariota is also a low volume passer, so it would be too risky to count on the rookie London to secure the receptions and yards to clear 48.5 yards.
Deebo Samuel Over/Under 58.5 Receiving Yards
I’ll take Deebo Samuel to surpass 58.5 receiving yards this Sunday. Samuel has a favorable opponent against the Falcons fourth worst pass defense. The Falcons also traded away speedy LB Deion Jones to the Browns which will clear more room in the middle of the field for Samuel to break open. With star TE George Kittle working through on and off injuries this season, Samuel has established himself as the most reliable weapon on the 49ers. These factors, along with his tackle breaking ability, earns him significant yards after the catch to reach his yardage total.
