Trey Lance Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns
This one might not immediately jump out on the board, but I actually love this prop bet. San Francisco finally handed the reigns over to Trey Lance as the starting quarterback, and what better way to get comfortable in a new offense than playing the Chicago defense? I do think Chicago will be better than what they were last year, but this game could get out of hand fast, and I think the situation sets up really well for Trey Lance to have a coming out party as a first time starter. He’s also got great weapons to throw to, like George Kittle at tight end, Brandon Ayiuk on the outside, and Deebo Samuel being used in all sorts of way too. Chicago could be on its way, but isn’t there yet on defense take the over here.
Darnell Mooney Over 61.5 Receiving Yards
This might be the best prop bet for the Bears this weekend. Mooney is now the de facto no. 1 receiver that Chicago has, and should see looks from Justin Fields early and often. The Bears need some sort of spark on offense and Mooney seems like he might be primed for a breakout year just because of how limited the options seem to be at receiver outside of him. I think maybe Cole Kmet at tight end could see some yards as well as Byron Pringle on the other side as a receiver, but in terms of reliability, the safest bet seems to be with Mooney. Justin Fields should also be improved in Year 2 also. The one issue is that the 49ers have one of the best defenses in the NFL, but still, I love Mooney this week, and I think he cements himself as Justin Fields’ go-to receiver in this game.
Elijah Mitchell Over 15.5 Rushing Attempts
The 49ers are absolutely going to try and run it against whoever they play this season. That is just in Kyle Shanahan’s DNA, and in Week 1 I don’t expect anything to be much different. Mitchell is a solid running back and I expect the running game to be creative and for the 49ers to try and confuse the Bears defense with all of their different looks on the ground. I think the 49ers are also going to want to establish the run due to Trey Lance being a new starter, so the running game will be a really good compliment for him to get comfortable in the NFL. Another big reason why this is a good bet is because Chicago’s defense was gutted in the off-season, and will be relatively brand new, so a downhill and creative running attack is not the best for a defense like that.
