San Francisco 49ers vs. Denver Broncos Player Prop Picks
On Sunday Night Football in Week 3, we will see two high-powered playoff hopefuls face off as the 49ers and Broncos meet in cross-conference action. Denver is attempting to iron out the kinks with a first year-head coach and new quarterback, while San Francisco is back in business with Jimmy Garoppolo after Trey Lance’s unfortunate injury. In this article, I’ll provide analysis on the best player props from this Sunday Night Football showdown. You can use the player prop search tool above to find the best odds in your market for the wagers you’d like to place for this game.
Jerry Jeudy Under 4.5 Receptions
I’m not sure I understand why this prop is set so high. Jerry Jeudy has five catches through two games this year, well below the pace needed for this prop. To be fair, he suffered an injury that kept him out of most of the game against the Texans. He’s expected to play this week, but the rib/shoulder injuries can be easily aggravated in this game. Jeudy will also be facing a difficult matchup against a San Francisco defense that will put constant pressure on Russell Wilson and ranks third in dropback EPA this season. Jeudy has only gone over 4.5 receptions once in his last eight games, albeit with worse QB play for most of them. With the difficult matchup and the injuries to navigate, the under is the play here.
Russell Wilson Over 8.5 Rushing Yards
Over his two games in a Broncos uniform, Russell Wilson has just five total rushing yards, and questions are being raised about his declining athleticism at his age. However, I see this as being a game where Wilson will have to scramble more often. While Cameron Fleming has had a strong start to the year at right tackle, Nick Bosa has the clear advantage over him and will generate pressure all night. Meanwhile, Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw can create a push on the interior. Wilson lacks established chemistry with his receivers at this point, particularly with Jeudy and Hamler dealing with injuries, and I expect to see him on the move as he evades pressure more often in this game.
Jeff Wilson Over 59.5 Rushing Yards
The 49ers don’t seem to have a high level of trust in Jimmy Garoppolo after spending all offseason attempting to trade him, and I don’t anticipate them attempting to air out the offense in a much tougher matchup than they faced last week. That leads us to Jeff Wilson, now the team’s starting running back, who has minimal competition for touches after injuries to Elijah Mitchell and rookie Tyrion Davis-Price. Wilson finished last week with 18 carries for 84 yards who rank as the fifth-worst run defense per PFF’s metrics and rank just 21st in rushing success rate allowed. Dameon Pierce and Rashaad Penny combined for 129 yards on 27 carries the past two weeks (4.7 YPC) against this defense.
