San Francisco 49ers Vs. Los Angeles Rams Player Prop Picks
One of the best rivalries in the NFL right now is renewed in Week 8 as the 49ers travel back to the site of their NFC Championship loss to face the Rams. Surprisingly, the Seahawks are in first place in the NFC West right now, but both of these teams are holding onto Super Bowl aspirations. In this article, I’ll break down my favorite player props in what is arguably the game of the week. You can use the player prop search tool above to compare odds from different sportsbooks for the 49ers vs. Rams game.
Cooper Kupp Over 92.5 Receiving Yards (-115 BetMGM)
In his last three games against the 49ers, Cooper Kupp is averaging 120.6 receiving yards, and he’s been remarkably consistent with totals of 122, 118, and 122 over that span. With that consistency, I’m surprised that the sportsbooks are setting his receiving yardage prop this low. DraftKings and Caesars are hanging significant juice to the over at this number, but you can find it at close to even money on BetMGM.
Last week, we saw Patrick Mahomes dice up the 49ers’ secondary with 423 passing yards and three touchdowns. Injuries have some to do with it as Emmanuel Moseley and Jason Verrett remain out, but the defensive backs who played simply were not good. The 49ers still rank ninth in pass defense DVOA and 11th in passing success rate allowed, but Kupp can surely beat this secondary as currently constructed.
Allen Robinson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+400 FanDuel)
My jaw dropped when I saw that this was priced at +400. I get it, Allen Robinson hasn’t been nearly what most expected when he signed in Los Angeles. However, even if you use his touchdown rate so far this season, this prop should be priced at +300 as he’s scored in a third of his games this year.
The Rams have tried to get Robinson the ball in the red zone. In fact, he’s ninth in the NFL in red-zone target share and tied for second in total targets inside the ten-yard line. It simply hasn’t connected thus far, and the lack of consistent practice time in the preseason with Matthew Stafford has to be somewhat of a culprit.
The 49ers are a very good defense, but they aren’t immune to touchdowns being thrown against them, and I believe that the Rams will have spent the bye week practicing red-zone offense as they rank just 27th in that department. This is far from a guarantee, but there’s far too much value at this number to not put a small play on Robinson to score a touchdown.
Brandon Aiyuk Over 4.5 Receptions (-118 BetRivers)
The 49ers have made a concerted effort to get Brandon Aiyuk more involved in the offense in recent weeks, and he has 15 total receptions over his last two games. That approach will likely continue here as Deebo Samuel has been ruled out for this game. In seven career games without Samuel, Aiyuk is averaging five catches for 57.1 yards.
Christian McCaffrey had just two receptions last week, and I’d expect him to become more involved in the offense moving forward. However, the Niners will also be cautious with his workload due to his recent injury history. They made the aggressive trade for him to make him an all-around offensive weapon in the playoffs, and he won’t take away from Aiyuk’s production in this game.
