Seattle Seahawks Vs. Los Angeles Chargers Player Prop Picks
On Sunday afternoon, we’ll be watching a cross-conference matchup between two teams jockeying for positioning in the AFC and NFC West. The Seahawks are a surprising 3-3, and they need to be respected as a potential Wild Card team in the NFC. Meanwhile, the Chargers have fought their way to 4-2 despite some obvious flaws. This article will focus on player prop values from this game. You can use the Seahawks vs. Chargers player prop search tool to find the best odds for your selected wager.
Kenneth Walker III Over 67.5 Rushing Yards
The rookie running back has taken over as the lead running back for the Seahawks, and he’s set with a fantastic opportunity in front of him. Last week, his first as the full-time starter following Rashaad Penny’s unfortunate season-ending injury, Walker took 21 rushing attempts for 97 yards. He now has gone way over this rushing prop in each of his last two games.
Walker is a phenomenal talent who was a fringe Heisman candidate at Michigan State last season, and he put all of that on display last week with a whopping 75 yards after contact against the Cardinals. He had four carries of 10+ yards last week alone, per PFF, and he’s a home run waiting to happen.
This week, Walker faces an incredibly vulnerable Chargers run defense that ranks 22nd in DVOA against the run and 31st in yards per carry allowed. Despite their best efforts over the offseason, this run defense hasn’t improved considerably from what we saw last year. Walker should take full advantage with another big rushing performance.
Geno Smith Under 34.5 Passing Attempts
I just wrote about how the Seahawks will have no problem running the ball this week with Kenneth Walker, and that directly leads to a lower passing volume for the offense. While Geno Smith has been highly efficient this year, he’s only attempted 35 or more passes in one of his six games. He’s averaging about 31 passes per game this season, and if you take out the 44-attempt game against the Falcons, that drops to around 28.
Prior to this season, Geno Smith hadn’t attempted more than 34 passes in a game since 2014. Of course, he was a backup for long stretches over that span, but he’s never been a particularly high-volume passer. Seattle’s offense averages the second-most yards per play in the NFL and the Chargers rank 25th in that respect on defense. With the Seahawks picking up chunk yardage in this game, I don’t see why Smith would surpass this number.
Gerald Everett Over 36.5 Receiving Yards (-115 DraftKings)
As I’m sitting here writing this article, we don’t yet have confirmation on whether or not Keenan Allen is playing. In fact, it appears that he will be a true game-time decision. With the Chargers on bye after this week, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they held him out for another game. Josh Palmer is in concussion protocol and isn’t expected to play while Jaylen Guyton tore his ACL earlier in the season.
With the wide receiver room rapidly thinning, Gerald Everett is set for a big role against his former team. The Seahawks rank 30th in pass defense against tight ends and have allowed 7.5 catches for 78.9 yards per game to the position. Kyle Pitts (5-87), T.J. Hockenson (8-179), and Zach Ertz (7-70) have all had big games against them in recent weeks. Gerald Everett has been a great addition to the Chargers, and he’s gone over this line in three of his five games while averaging 42.6 yards per game this season.
