StatHero announced on Tuesday that it had launched the Rivals Daily Fantasy Sportsbook as it attempts to change the DFS industry for the better. StatHero is a company that is based in Scottsdale, Ariz., but this new sportsbook will be available throughout the US in states that allow DFS operators.
StatHero is currently offered in 32 states across the country, and the Rivals Daily Fantasy Sportsbook will be available immediately. Currently, the site offers DFS contests for NBA, NFL, NHL, and the PGA Tour, but more games are expected to be added.

This launch will allow bettors in states that don’t currently allow sports betting the opportunity to experience a sportsbook type atmosphere. Players will be in control of the action, and they will be able to place bets just as they would in states where sports betting is allowed.
Arizona does not allow sports betting or Daily Fantasy Sports. For those that are in legal states, this is a great opportunity for those states that allow Daily Fantasy Sports, but not Sports Betting. The DFS industry remains highly competitive, but it is still led by the operators, DraftKings and FanDuel.
Player-Friendly Format
One of the biggest advantages to this new site is that players will be competing in one-on-one challenges against the house as opposed to taking on other players. This will eliminate the professional DFS players from winning a majority of the competitions.
StatHero will also reveal its complete lineup before the contest starts, which should give the customer a huge advantage. The entire prize is then given directly to the winner, and it is not split up between a group of winners.
There is also no buy-in with the new DFS sportsbook from StatHero, and customers will be able to set their own stakes for each contest.
Other DFS News Pieces
Sports betting has been dominating the news headlines of late, but there have been plenty of newsworthy DFS events that have taken place. Just last month, Bally’s announced that it had agreed to purchase Monkey Knife Fight, the third-largest DFS site in the US industry.
Monkey Knife Fight is an award-winning company that also seeks to bring new and engaging contests to its customers. This site is also available in states where DFS is legal and regulated.
Caesars Entertainment also recently made headlines when it invested in a DFS platform known as SuperDraft. Caesars is one of the largest companies in the online gambling industry, but it had yet to break into the DFS industry until this investment.
Arizona Sports Betting Update
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has expressed his support for legalizing sports betting in the future, and the first few steps could be taken in 2021. Initial steps have been taken in the past, but legislators have not been able to get enough support behind any piece of legislation.
Ducey is hoping that sports betting will be available both on and off Indian reservations, but that would require the US Federal Government to give the official approval. Last year, a sports betting bill was introduced that would have allowed betting at kiosks set up throughout the state.
Launching a DFS site could be the push that leaders in Arizona need to take a closer look at sports betting.
