Super Bowl LVI: Cam Akers Player Props

Get Cam Akers player props for Super Bowl LVI. Akers tore his Achilles in July, which is often a career-ending injury for players, especially running backs. However, Akers has obliterated the supposed recovery timeline to make his return for this playoff push. With Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp, the Rams are certainly a pass-first team, but Akers has helped add another dimension to the offense as a more dynamic runner than Sony Michel. Darrell Henderson could make a return from the Injured Reserve list this week, so wait to place Akers props until we have further confirmation on that situation. However, I expect Akers to get the lead role in the backfield even if Henderson joins him and Michel in the depth chart. Cam Akers Over/Under 64.5 Rushing Yards

While Cam Akers’s return from injury has been inspirational and exciting, he hasn’t been very efficient as he’s averaging just 2.8 YPC. The Bengals allowed just 102.5 total rushing yards per game this season, the fifth-fewest in the NFL, and Akers is averaging just 50.6 rushing yards per game in the postseason. Keep an eye on the practice reports for Akers this week, as he missed practices early in the week. The two weeks off should help Akers shake off some more rust, but he’s still only a few months from a very significant injury. The potential return of Henderson is also a factor, but even if he doesn’t play, I’d lean towards the under here as the Rams have no problem with a pass-heavy offense regardless of game script.

The Pick: Lean Under 64.5 Yards

Cam Akers Over/Under 2.5 Receptions

In three postseason games, Akers is averaging just 1.6 catches per game. He did have the game against Tampa Bay with three receptions, but that seems to be an outlier in the not-so-large sample size. The Bengals did allow 108 receptions to running backs in the regular season, the fifth-most in the NFL, however, so this profiles as a solid matchup for Akers. Still, the Rams aren’t overly committed to using him in the passing game. The under on this prop will be significantly juiced – I’m staying it at around -150 – so this is probably a stay-away.

The Pick: Lean Under 2.5 Receptions But Don’t Bet

Cam Akers Anytime TD Scorer

Akers has yet to score in his return to the Rams’ lineup, but he’s still listed at around even money to score in the Super Bowl. In fact, the Rams’ only two rushing touchdowns in the playoffs have been scored by Matthew Stafford. That last bit is somewhat encouraging as it’s not as though a different running back has been stealing the goal-line work, but it also shows that the Rams are much more comfortable throwing the ball in the red-zone. An Akers touchdown wouldn’t be the most shocking thing in the world, but the value isn’t there at his current odds and this isn’t something I’d make a primary prop play for the Super Bowl.

The Pick: Lean Over 0.5 Touchdowns
