Tennessee Titans vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Player Props (12/19/21)

This matchup between the Titans and the Steelers carries a ton of weight this week regarding playoff seeding in the AFC. Tennessee has all but locked up a playoff spot, and it’s hard to imagine them losing the AFC South at this point. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has just a 10% chance of making the playoffs at this point in the season and is desperate for a win. While the Titans have suffered injuries to top players, including Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown, there should be plenty of value in player props in this game. D’Onta Foreman Over 52.5 Rushing Yards

Since Derrick Henry went down in Week 8, the Titans have rotated in a slew of running backs, but the one player who has shown consistency has been D’Onta Foreman. While Foreman was actually third on the team in snaps last week, he got plenty of rest in the second half, with the Titans holding a sizable lead over the Jaguars. Foreman still led the team with 13 rushing attempts. This week, Foreman faces a Pittsburgh defense that has been gouged on the ground this year to the tune of 139.5 rushing yards per game, the third-most in the NFL. The Steelers allow 5.0 yards per carry, the most in the NFL, so Foreman wouldn’t even need more than the 13 carries he got last week to surpass this number comfortably.

Diontae Johnson Over 78.5 Receiving Yards

The evolution of Diontae Johnson into an incredibly consistent wideout has been fun to watch, and he’s arguably the Steelers’ most important player on either side of the ball. Johnson is averaging 92 receiving yards per game over his past five games, four of which were over this 78.5-yard line. Tennessee is allowing 250.7 passing yards per game, the eleventh-most in the NFL, and they will be without top cornerback Janoris Jenkins this week. I’m expecting this game to be sneaky high-scoring, and Johnson will be a massive part of the scoring effort for Pittsburgh. You can bet on Johnson over 7.5 receptions or anytime TD scorer, but I see the yardage as the most surefire bet.

Ryan Tannehill Anytime TD Scorer

You probably don’t think of Ryan Tannehill as a running quarterback, but he’s been very productive on the ground lately. Tannehill has scored a rushing touchdown in three of his last five games and five of his previous eight games. As I mentioned above, the Steelers have a porous run defense, and they’ve especially struggled against mobile quarterbacks this season. In the red zone, the Titans have a deep package of RPO and designed quarterback running plays that benefit Tannehill. You can get crazy value on Tannehill to score a touchdown in this game – I’m seeing +350 or +400 on some books – and that makes this my favorite value play of the game.

Chase Claypool Longest Reception Over 34.5 Yards

Steelers fans have not been thrilled with Chase Claypool this season for a myriad of reasons. He hasn’t developed the way fans hoped he would in his second season, and he has made several bone-headed mistakes that have cost the team. Claypool is working on a four-game streak with a long reception of 35+ yards despite playing on fewer snaps lately due to some of those mistakes. As fun as it has been to disparage the aging Ben Roethlisberger, he’s playing much better lately and has done enough to help Claypool be more productive. Against a poor Tennessee pass defense, Claypool should make his current streak five games with the over on this prop.
