The College Football Five

We head into October for the college football season. The SEC started their conference schedule last Saturday, the Big 12 heats up with upsets, and there have been five weeks of college football already! There is a lot of value on betting lines this week, and there is money to be had.

Ole Miss @ Kentucky (-6) O/U 63

Ole Miss heads to Kentucky this Saturday for their SEC matchup. Last week, Kentucky shot themselves in the foot against Auburn, and Ole Miss didn’t have a chance against Florida. Ole Miss put up a good number of points against a good Florida defense. For Kentucky, they looked sloppy, but they should be able to clean things up against Ole Miss.

Bet: Over 63
Although Kentucky looked sloppy against Auburn last week, I do expect them to tighten things up on the offensive side. They should be able to move the football against Ole Miss this week against their defense. Ole Miss, on the other hand, impressed offensively against an excellent Florida team. This should be a shootout on Saturday as both teams should put up at least 30 points for the over.

Mizzou @ Tennessee (-12) O/U 49.5

Mizzou was dominated by Alabama last Saturday, as Tennessee took care of business against South Carolina last week. Tennessee looked a bit sloppy in their first game with Jarret Guarantano at quarterback. This should also be a good buy-low spot on Mizzou as the country saw Alabama roll in week 1.

Bet: Mizzou +12
Mizzou was in a terrible situation facing Alabama last Saturday with a new head coach and transfer quarterback. Although Tennessee won, quarterback Jarrett Guarantano did not look great in the matchup against South Carolina last week. Mizzou should be able to keep this game close in a bounce-back spot.

TCU @ Texas (-10) O/U 62

Expect a shootout in Austin this Saturday as TCU travels to Texas. TCU couldn’t pull off the win against Iowa State last week as Texas beat Texas Tech in a shootout. TCU should be able to keep this thing close as the Longhorns defense looked horrific last week.

Bet: TCU +10
Both offenses impressed last weekend, and there should be no surprise if we see another shootout. Although TCU’s offense did start slow, they looked good in the second half against Iowa State. They should be able to hang within 10 against a suspect Texas defense.

UTSA @ UAB (-21) O/U 54.5

UAB takes on UTSA this Saturday in Birmingham. The Blazers looked the part this season, as UTSA is off to a surprising 3-0 start. However, for UTSA, UAB is a different beast and will need to show out if they want to keep this game close.

Bet: UAB -21
I think UAB is going to roll. They are one of the best non-power five schools in College Football and facing an overachieving UTSA team that should not be 3-0. The public will be coming in on the undefeated roadrunners, but UAB is a different beast.

Arkansass @ Mississippi State (-17) O/U 68.5

Mississippi State pulled an incredible upset against LSU last weekend, as Arkansas didn’t have an answer against Georgia. However, the spot could be with Arkansas as they did not allow any explosive drives against Georgia last week. That will be key when facing a Mississippi State offense that will air it out all game.

Bet: Arkansas +17
This is a great situational spot to take Arkansas this week. Mississippi State upset the defending National Champion LSU Tigers in Mike Leach’s first game as head coach, as K.J. Costello broke SEC passing records. Arkansas is the perfect team to catch the Bulldogs sleepwalking in their second game.

I fell in love with handicapping right away. Sports betting is a lot more enjoyable when going through advanced data to find an edge on a Vegas line. Situational plays is a focus of mine and study stats and data analytics to go along with certain situations to make myself a more well rounded capper. College football and college basketball are my favorite to bet.
