Turner Sports Partners with DraftKings and FanDuel

Turner Sports is adding two sports betting platforms to its media outlet. DraftKings and FanDuel signed an executive betting partnership with Turner Sports. According to the terms of the deal, DraftKings and FanDuel will offer betting information to viewers on TNT, TBS, and Bleacher Report.

“Turner Sports is a leader in the media industry and, together, we’re bringing viewership to the next level by offering exclusive sports betting content that’s directly integrated into their NBA programming,” said Mike Raffensperger, the CMO of FanDuel Group. “We’ll be incorporating FanDuel Sportsbook odds and analysis into Turner Sport’s live broadcasts and Bleacher Report’s digital content, offering a new, enhanced experience for NBA fans.”

With sports betting growing exponentially in the U.S., multiple media outlets are locking up sports betting partnerships to help launch odds and betting information for shows.

Partnership Details

The multi-year partnership was struck last Thursday, allowing DraftKings and FanDuel to access post-betting information across the Turner Sports media platforms.

Turner Sports could add betting odds when they send out their push notifications to users. Turner Sports plans to integrate both betting companies into their site.

Media companies are noticing a shift in viewership, which has been powered by social media and the coronavirus pandemic. Analysts have discovered that more people are inclined to watch a sports event longer if they are either betting on the game, playing fantasy sports, or have some skin on the event.

According to the deal, Turner Sports will cut the revenue from DraftKings and FanDuel if they help the companies earn customers.

“Regulated betting is quickly becoming a fixture of modern sports entertainment, and this collaboration with Turner Sports further scales the reach of our products and content to engage fans,” said DraftKings’ chief business officer, Ezra Kucharz.

What Does this Mean for Turner Sports

Turner Sports understands they need to do everything possible to keep up with the media empires regarding sports betting. Places like CBS, NBC, ESPN, and others all have partnerships with sports betting operators.

Turner Sports has seen ratings dip this fall despite the NBA playing its postseason from August to October. Experts believe incorporating sports betting more into the broadcast and on their platforms will be drive and interest back to the sport.

Despite lower NBA ratings, DraftKings and FanDuel should capitalize on the new partnership with Turner Sports. The media empire also has rights to major league baseball along with the March Madness tournament. Anyone can find March Madness games on TNT, TBS, or TruTV during the tournament.

As long as Turner keeps trying to grow their media brand, then they will be fine. Adding sports betting analysis into the company will help long-term growth.

Sports betting and fantasy has become huge in the U.S., especially in the last few years. As long as they look to attract eyeballs via betting and fantasy, they will see ratings rising.

Having a partnership with DraftKings and FanDuel makes it better. Turner Sports will use two of the largest sports betting companies in the U.S. at its disposal.
