Washington Football Team vs. Carolina Panthers Player Props (11/21/21)

This one should be fun – Cam Newton, the former NFL MVP, takes on his former head coach in Ron Rivera. Now the head coach of Washington, Rivera, will hope that the defensive improvements his team showed last week will carry over to this week and help them slow down Newton’s Panthers. With plenty of betting intrigue for this game, there are tons of player props to dissect here. You can always use the player prop search tool below to find the best values for the bets you would like to place.

Christian McCaffrey Over 46.5 Receiving Yards

This line is right around where it should be as Christian McCaffrey has averaged 47.9 receiving yards per game in 33 career games with Cam Newton as his starting quarterback – it’s nice having that built-in sample size back from when Newton was on the Panthers. CMC is as good as it gets as a receiving back, and he is averaging 56.6 yards per game this season while surpassing this line in four of five starts. The only time he did not hit this number was when he suffered his injury against the Texans. Washington allows 279.3 passing yards per game, the third-most in the NFL, so I’m all over the over here.

DeAndre Carter Longest Reception Over 15.5 Yards

The Washington offense has been searching for a secondary receiving option with Curtis Samuel and Logan Thomas out, and DeAndre Carter has stepped up in recent weeks. Carter has played on 57.9% of the team’s snaps over their past five games and has averaged 34.6 receiving yards per game over that span. I’m not sold on this being a high-volume game for Taylor Heinecke against a tough defense, but this longest reception line feels too low with Carter going over this number in four of his last six games. Carter can break off an extended play with Carolina’s defensive attention in the secondary being focused on Terry McLaurin.

Terry McLaurin Under 5.5 Receptions

I’m surprised this number fell at 5.5 and not 4.5, and as much as I love McLaurin as a player, I’m leaning towards the under here. McLaurin has only hit this number in two of his last five games and now has to face a Carolina pass defense that is allowing just 173.7 passing yards per game, the fewest in the NFL. Over the past month, the Panthers are allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete an average of just 16.5 passes per game, and Taylor Heinecke isn’t precisely a prolific passer. I didn’t make it one of my official plays here, but I like Heinecke to complete under 20.5 passes this week, as well.

Tommy Tremble Over 8.5 Receiving Yards

This is a flier that I’m not supremely confident in, but I believe in Tommy Tremble. He’s flashed his talent several times this season, and he was drafted in the third round this year to be a pass-catching leader for this team. Ian Thomas has never fit that bill and Tremble lined up on the field on 23 passing plays compared to none for Thomas last week. Tremble has gone over nine receiving yards in four of his previous eight games, and he has the talent to do it against a Washington defense allowing 279.3 passing yards per game, the third-most in the NFL.
