Week 12 NFL Odds
Contents
Thanksgiving is this Thursday making it one of the best weekends of the NFL season. This Thursday, we will have three marquee matchups to watch and then a full slate of NFL action on Sunday. The Ravens and Steelers are the primetime matchups on turkey day, while the Sunday night matchup will feature the Packers and Bears. The Colts and Titans face off in a huge divisional matchup, while the week’s best game will be between the Chiefs and Buccaneers. Here are the Week 12 NFL lines.
Houston Texans @ Detroit Lions
Thursday November 26, 12:30 PM ET
The Detroit Lions kick off Thanksgiving every year and will do so against the Houston Texans this week. Detroit was shutout this past Sunday in Carolina, while Houston picked up a huge win against the Patriots at home. They will have to travel to Detroit on the short week to try and pick up another win. A situation like this past week screams to take the Texans, but the NFL works in weird ways. According to Football Outsiders, Detroit has a higher DVOA than Houston and has an edge statistically in offense and defense. Although the gut reaction is to take the Texans with the points, the numbers suggest the value is on the Lions this Thursday.
Washington Football Team @ Dallas Cowboys
Thursday November 26, 4:30 PM ET
Washington heads to Dallas for Thanksgiving for the third time since 2012. In those matchups, the Cowboys are 2-1 against the Football Team, but this year is different. Both teams struggle to find wins, and Dallas’ season has been shot since Dak Prescott suffered a gruesome season-ending injury earlier this year. Both teams are coming off wins this Sunday and will try to replicate the success on turkey day. Andy Dalton has been playing much better in recent weeks but will be going up against a great Washington defense. The question becomes if the Football Team moves the ball against Dallas.
Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Thursday November 26, 8:20 PM ET
The matchup that everyone will be waiting for is between the Steelers and Ravens on Thursday night. Baltimore has suffered a few tough losses in recent weeks, while Pittsburgh is the NFL’s final undefeated team. In this rivalry, you need to throw out the records when these two matchup. Baltimore and Pittsburgh have two of the best defenses in the NFL and should have no issues stopping the opponent’s offense. The Steelers continue to find success on offense, while the Ravens have struggled to pass the football with Lamar Jackson. Baltimore has been great running the ball, but Pittsburgh is good at stopping it. On top of that, the Ravens have struggled after losing offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley for the season. This game feels like it’s Pittsburgh’s to lose on Thanksgiving.
Tennessee Titans @ Indianapolis Colts
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
The Titans and Colts have a huge matchup in the AFC South this Sunday to determine the division winner in 2020. Both teams are 7-3, but the Colts currently have the tiebreaker over the Titans after winning the first head-to-head matchup earlier this month. Now, Tennessee has a chance to even the season series and take control of first place. The Titans were exposed defensively in the first matchup but have tightened things up this past week against Baltimore. They got the road win over the Ravens, while the Colts knocked off Green Bay at home. If the Titans can bounce back this Sunday from a few weeks ago, then the AFC South should be there’s.
Carolina Panthers @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
Carolina is coming off an impressive win over the Detroit Lions and will head to Minnesota to take on the Vikings this week. The Panthers shutout Detroit at home and will look to keep the momentum going against Minnesota. The Vikings fell to the Cowboys at home this week as seven-point favorites. Now, they look to bounce back against the Panthers as they begin to spiral out of the playoff picture again. The Panthers sit at 4-7 and have been playing well, considering their record. Under first-year head coach Matt Ruhle, Carolina is building something that could be sustainable over the next few years, creating a potential SUper Bowl window if the stars align. For now, they hope to win back to back games this Sunday.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
The Los Angeles Chargers get the short end of the stick this Sunday having to travel to Buffalo for an early slate matchup. The game will start at 10:00 AM Los Angeles time, giving the Bills an edge as the Chargers could be sleepy. The Bills are also coming off a bye, so the team should have extra rest heading into its matchup with L.A. The Chargers took care of the New York Jets this past Sunday, which isn’t hard for many teams to do. After the Bill started 4-0, they have played .500 football in the last six weeks. A win over the Chargers could change things as they head down the final stretch of the 2020 season. Buffalo is also looking for its first division title since 1995.
New York Giants @ Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
The New York Giants are coming off the bye this week and will take on the Bengals in Cincinnati. The Bengals lost Joe Burrow for the year after suffering a knee injury during their game against Washington. This could give the Giants an edge as they are still competing for an NFC East division title. Yes, the 3-7 Giants have a shot at winning the division. New York is a half-game back of the Philadelphia Eagles for first place and a three-way tie with Washington and Dallas at 3-7. The division is bad, but it could become the most interesting divisional race this season. A win for New York keeps them right in the thick of things.
Cleveland Browns @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
The Cleveland Browns took care of business against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday and will not travel to Jacksonville to take on them. This could be a potential look-ahead spot for the Browns as they have the Titans and Ravens the two weeks after playing the Jags. Cleveland is in a tight playoff race and currently sits in sixth place, tied with the Titans. They play Tennessee next Sunday and then play the Ravens, division rivals, and one game behind the Browns for a playoff spot. The Jaguars are coming off a loss to the Steelers at home, and although Jacksonville doesn’t have much going for them this season, and win over the Browns would be a highlight in a rough year.
Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
After falling to Denver on the road this Sunday, the Dolphins head to the northeast to take on the 0-10 New York Jets. Could the Jets win their first game of the season on Sunday? There is a chance as Miami has been overperforming since starting Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. The Dolphins were outclassed by the Broncos and could struggle with a bad Jets team on back to back weeks. It’s hard to see the Dolphins losing to an 0-10 Jets team, but it is the NFL. Miami needs a better performance out of Tagovailoa this Sunday to remain in the playoff race. The Dolphins are 6-4 and currently sit in ninth place in the AFC. Although they are outside looking in, Miami is still in a spot to make a late-season run.
Las Vegas Raiders @ Atlanta Falcons
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
The Falcons and Raiders will be looking to bounce back after Week 11 losses. Atlanta fell to New Orleans on the road, while Las Vegas couldn’t stop the Chiefs from having a late-game comeback. Now, both teams square off in Atlanta in a bounce-back spot. The Raiders have more on the table as they sit at 6-5 on the season and currently hold the last playoff spot in the AFC, despite the loss. The Falcons are trying to finish out this season and could begin to tank as they sit at 3-7 on the year and dead last in the NFC standings. Las Vegas could get a win that gets them back on track this Sunday.
Arizona Cardinals @ New England Patriots
Sunday November 29, 1:00 PM ET
Arizona is coming off a mini-bye this week after falling to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night. They will look to rebound against a New England Patriots team that couldn’t get it done in Houston on Sunday.
San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Rams
Sunday November 29, 4:05 PM ET
A divisional matchup between the 49ers and Rams kicks off Sunday afternoon in L.A. The Rams will be coming off a Monday night road trip in Tampa, which could leave them struggling to get prepared for San Francisco this week. The 49ers have lost three straight games but are coming off the bye for this matchup. San Fran has dealt with a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball this year, and it is showing with a 4-6 record. This game feels like it’s the Rams to lose, but anything is possible, especially going up against a divisional opponent like the 49ers. Earlier this season, the 49ers got the best of the Rams and will look to do it again on the road this Sunday.
New Orleans Saints @ Denver Broncos
Sunday November 29, 4:05 PM ET
The New Orleans Saints head to Denver to take on the Broncos this Sunday. Mile High Stadium is a tough place to place, and the Saints will need to find a way to win on Thanksgiving weekend. New Orleans took care of Atlanta at home this past Sunday without Drew Brees at quarterback, but it could be a much more difficult test against the Broncos defense. Denver is coming off an impressive win against the Miami Dolphins and will look to make it back to back upsets with New Orleans coming to town this week. The biggest question mark will be how Taysom Hill plays in Denver. The Broncos defense is so much different than the Falcons, and it could be a low scoring affair.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday November 29, 4:25 PM ET
The game of the week comes between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Everyone will be looking to watch Tom Brady take on his predecessor Patrick Mahome Sunday afternoon. The Chiefs have been dominant this season and are in a prime position of defending their Super Bowl title. Tom Brady is looking to make one last run himself, and this matchup could be an early preview of Super Bowl LV. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, and a win this Sunday will continue to put the Chiefs or the Buccs on the right path heading down the final stretch of the season. It will be interesting to see how these two defenses try to limit Brady and Mahomes.
Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday November 29, 8:20 PM ET
The oldest rivalry in the NFL is set to make another chapter this Sunday night between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Green Bay just suffered a tough road loss in Indianapolis, while the Bears will be coming off the bye trying to stop a four-game losing streak. With how the Bears have played against the superior competition this season, this feels like an easy win for Green Bay. However, anything can happen when these two teams face off against one another. The Bears’ offense has been terrible this season, but the Packers’ defense has not been great. This could be a game where Chicago gets things going offensively while the defense can limit Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense.
Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles
Monday November 30, 8:15 PM ET
The Monday night matchup features the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles. Seattle is coming off a Thursday night win against the Cardinals, while Philadelphia fell to Cleveland on the road this Sunday. This will be a must-win game for both teams as the Seahawks and Eagles are in first place in their division. The Eagles are 3-6-1 this season and need a win desperately against an excellent Seahawks team. Seattle is only one game ahead of the Rams and will need to keep winning to keep Los Angeles and Arizona from jumping them in the NFC West. This game has huge implications for both teams, which bring out each team’s best on Monday night.
