With Ohio Betting Launch, Pete Rose Placing First Hard Rock Cincinnati Bet

FanDuel Sportsbook App LogoPete Rose has an interesting history with gambling on sports, and that’s going to continue with the upcoming launch of Ohio sports betting. The state is all set to roll out its full betting market, which includes both online sportsbooks and retail sportsbooks. Plenty of different mobile sports betting operators will soon be fully active in the state, such as FanDuel Sportsbook Ohio, DraftKings Sportsbook Ohio, Caesars Sportsbook Ohio, and BetMGM Sportsbook Ohio.

Plus, retail sports betting will be available at plenty of different major casinos across the state, with Hard Rock Cincinnati being one of the first to open up an in-person sports betting spot. During a special event at the casino, Rose will be the very first person to place a wager at the Hard Rock Sportsbook.

First Hard Rock Sportsbook Cincinnati Bet To Be Placed By Pete Rose

Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati is opening its first retail sportsbook, and a special guest will be printing the very first ticket. Pete Rose, who spent the majority of his pro baseball career playing in the city, will be the very first person to place a wager with the Hard Rock Sportsbook in Cincinnati. The in-person sports betting spot should be a major draw for sports fans in the area, with over 30 different windows and betting kiosks to place wagers at.

The special event will also feature special incentives for new Hard Rock Sportsbook mobile app users, who will get to spin a wheel for various prizes, such as the chance at $5,000 in betting credits. According to WCPO Cincinnati, in addition to Rose, the special event at Hard Rock Casino will feature a number of different Cincinnati Bengals stars like Ickey Woods and Anthony Munoz. Plus, Mary Wineberg, an Olympic gold medalist from Cincinnati, will make an appearance.

When Does Ohio Sports Betting Launch?

The Ohio sports betting market will officially launch at midnight on January 1st, 2023. This means that, as soon as it’s New Year’s Day, Rose will place his first Hard Rock Sportsbook bet, signifying that legal wagering is available for the new year. While Hard Rock Cincinnati will be one of many physical casinos breaking ground on a new in-person sportsbook in the state of Ohio, that’s far from the only example.

In fact, a number of different Ohio stadiums are looking to open retail sportsbooks, such as the planned Bally Bet Sportsbook at FirstEnergy Stadium (home of the Cleveland Browns) and the BetMGM Sportsbook within Great American Ballpark (home of the Cincinnati Reds). Plus, betting kiosks will be available at a number of different locations throughout Ohio, with grocery stores being one of the more interesting examples.

Pete Rose’s Sports Betting History

As mentioned earlier, Pete Rose’s career has been partially defined by sports betting. The former pitcher and manager was banned from the MLB in 1989 after an investigation into his betting on Cincinnati Reds games while he was playing with the team. In 2003, after years of denying any involvements with betting on Major League Baseball games, Rose admitted to wagering on Cincinnati Reds games.

However, Rose has claimed that he only wagered on his team to win games while he was a manager with the team. He has now fully embraced the growing world of sports betting, hosting his own podcast with Pete Rose’s Daily Picks.
