WNBA Becomes Newest AGA “Have A Game” Plan Partner, Joing leagues Such as the NBA and NFL to Enforce Responsible Gaming

The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) is the latest league to partner with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to promote responsible sports betting through the Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly public service campaign. The “Have a Game” campaign is part of an initiative across professional sports leagues — such as the NBA and NFL — to enforce responsible gaming guidelines in the marketing of major sportsbook operators like DraftKings and FanDuel.

WNBA Joins AGA Responsible Gambling Campaign

The WNBA marks the newest addition to the AGA’s Have A Game Plan initiative, joining the National Basketball Association (NBA) and several other leagues and sports teams as partners. As such, the WNBA has committed to educating its fans about responsible sports betting by providing turnkey resources for its 12 teams to utilize.

The campaign is set to begin Friday, May 19 and extend through the WNBA Finals. The partnership will integrate in-venue, broadcast, digital, and social media activations, plus in-app and website integration into the league’s WNBABet tab and content.

WNBA Chief Growth Officer Colie Edison sees this as a pivotal step toward progress, saying:

“WNBA fans are always looking for new and exciting ways to immerse themselves in our game, and legal sports betting has opened the door for deeper engagement with our league. As we explore this new avenue, the WNBA is committed to ensuring those who choose to wager on our league have the knowledge and tools to do so responsibly.”

More about the Have A Game Plan campaign

By promoting awareness and education, the AGA’s Have A Game Plan campaign aims to cultivate a safer, more thoughtful gambling environment for sports fans to enjoy.

The program works by focusing on the four principles of responsible wagering. These four principles include setting a budget, knowing the odds, playing with legal, regulated operators, and seeing gambling as a form of entertainment.

AGA Senior Vice President Casey Clark said:

“The WNBA’s commitment to Have A Game Plan will expand the campaign’s reach to new and existing basketball audiences. As legal sports betting matures across America, reaching the market’s broad group of diverse participants will require exactly the kind of leadership the WNBA, NBA and all of our Have A Game Plan partners have shown.”

Since its launch in 2019, the Have A Game Plan campaign has welcomed casino and sports betting partners such as:

  • Bally’s Corporation
  • Barstool Sportsbook
  • BetMGM
  • betPARX
  • DraftKings
  • Entain
  • FanDuel
  • MGM Resorts International
  • Parx Casino
  • PENN Entertainment
  • Rush Street Interactive

The sports leagues and teams that have teamed up with the campaign include:

  • Major League Baseball
  • USFL
  • NASCAR
  • NHL
  • PGA TOUR
  • New York Knicks
  • New York Jets
  • New York Rangers
  • Vegas Golden Knights
  • Washington Commanders

WNBA sports betting options

The WNBA is dedicated to empowering women and encouraging diversity, equity, inclusion and social responsibility. The league continues to elevate the game of basketball and the culture around it, bringing more popularity to the sport than ever before.

Until recently though, sports betting options for women’s pro basketball have been few and far between. Fortunately, the 2022-23 WNBA season saw record viewership, suggesting another promising season ahead.

The 27th WNBA season kicks off on May 19, and sportsbooks already have futures bets available. Once play begins, options for wagering on individual games, such as moneylines, spreads, totals, and prop bets will go live. And thanks to the WNBA’s new partnership with the AGA, basketball bettors can be more responsible while enjoying each game.
