The 2021 NFL season is the season of sports betting for the league as it has fully embraced a rapidly growing industry. With more and more sportsbooks launching and being legalized across the country, individual NFL teams partner with specific sportsbooks. The NFL now has partnerships with DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, BetMGM, PointsBet, WynnBET, and FOX Bet. The NFL is also permitting up to six sportsbook commercial sports per broadcast, with media rights partnerships becoming even more valuable.
Another new trend related to sports betting and the NFL is new sportsbook lounges opening at stadiums. MetLife Stadium, home to the New York Jets and New York Giants, is in a unique position as it’s the only NFL stadium in New Jersey, a state that recently surpassed Nevada for the largest sports betting handle in the country. On Tuesday, the New York Jets announced a multi-year partnership with WynnBet that includes a state-of-the-art betting lounge at MetLife.
WynnBET Green Room at MetLife Stadium
The centerpiece of the new partnership between WynnBet and MetLife Stadium is a new WynnBET Green Room that will be open on Jets game days. Patrons who are 21 years of age and older can access the space and enjoy all-inclusive food and beverage experience with immersive sports betting opportunities. There will be an extensive patio where individuals can view the Jets game while placing their bets. The WynnBET Green Room will be an approximately 4,80 square feet luxury club space at MetLife Stadium which has a capacity of 82,500 fans.
Other Aspects of the Partnership
In addition to the WynnBET Green Room, WynnBET will become the presenting partner of the New York Jets Podcast Network, which totaled over 6,500 hours of listenership in the past year. WynnBET will also present Jets pre-game and post-game live television shows on SportsNet New York, a regional sports network owned by Sterling Entertainment Enterprises. Presumably, the television aspect of the partnership will provide WynnBET with more commercial advertising opportunities, as will the podcast network. WynnBET launched in New Jersey in September 2020 through a licensing deal with Caesars Entertainment.
Other Sportsbook Stadium Lounges
In addition to the WynnBET Green Room, MetLife Stadium will be opening a Fubo Gaming betting lounge later this year. The Fubo Gaming Sportsbook Lounge is expected to be 7,000 square feet and host a premium sports betting experience. BetMGM is opening a sportsbook inside of State Farm Stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals. William Hill has a retail sportsbook at Capital One Arena, home to the Washington Capitals and Wizards.
More stadiums are expected to explore these types of opportunities moving forward. Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Football Team, is making a play for a retail sportsbook inside FedEx Stadium. Wrigley Field and Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago could also be next in this growing trend. Stadiums across the country are also working to improve their WiFi technology to support mobile betting. The T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Prudential Center in New Jersey, and PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh are opening mobile betting lounges in partnership with a single sportsbook.
