The Los Angeles Rams possess one of the top offenses in the league, and it starts from the top with head coach Sean McVay. Him and the front office have really brought the Rams back. While there is some uncertainty around the running game and the health of Todd Gurley, the passing game has been excellent with Jared Goff under center. We dive into how his potential 2019 outlook is and also the value he offers up in drafts and auctions.

Jared Goff put together a very strong 2018, and fantasy players had a nice steal in the later rounds. He finished with over 4,500 passing yards, and had 32 touchdowns. He was ahead of Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Kirk Cousins in overall fantasy points. Goff set career highs in just about everything, which was easy to do. The passing attempts trended up from 477 to 561 last season, and so did everything else. His completion rate jumped to 65% and his yards per attempt were also at a career high. It also helped that Los Angeles had a pretty solid offensive line in place for their young quarterback. With the Rams core in good shape for the future, and potentially moving towards 550 attempts on average for Goff, the production should continue.

Projecting Goff for a similar year from 2010 puts him in that 6-11 range depending on the production of others. With one of the best supporting casts around, and the return of Cooper Kupp, Goff will have plenty of weapons at his disposal. As you see in the tweet below by Scott Barrett, there has been a noticeable difference in Goff’s production. With Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods also in the mix, Goff has three reliable receivers. The running game is a question mark given Todd Gurley’s healthy, but regardless, the Rams unpredictable offense helps Goff. The rushing attack will continue to keep teams honest, and Sean McVay’s play-calling helps out as well.

There isn’t a ton of upside with his leges, but like most non-mobile quarterbacks there is a chance to tack on some points with a rushing touchdown or two. The Rams will have one of the tougher strength of schedules against the pass on paper, but that isn’t much of a concern with this offense. With consistent production ahead, Goff’s projection fits the bill for where he is being taken.

Draft & Auction Value

Despite a solid 2018 season and the core surrounding him, there are other quarterbacks going higher in terms of ADP. Jared Goff is one of those guys where if you are comfortable taking a quarterback with your roster in the mid-round, nab him. If not, there will be plenty of options later that bring a similar range of outcomes. Goff also offers up the ability to pair one of the three major wideouts with him. The auction value is hovering around this tier two range of quarterbacks, which is more fair compared to his ADP.
