Top 8 Fantasy Football Streamers Week 2 (PPR): Injuries Leading to Opportunities For Many Wide Receivers
After the waivers have cleared this first week there may not be a ton available in terms of solid start options. However, I am here to give you some startable plays on short notice. We have all been in a situation where last-minute injuries cause us to have to pivot to an undesirable matchup, and sometimes scouring the free agent pool can be a good option.
Contents
Adrian Peterson
(60% Rostered on Yahoo) vs Green Bay Packers
Peterson saw 14 carries in his debut with the Lions and some work within the 5-yard line. It seems Kerryon Johnson is no longer a factor on the team and Peterson will split snaps with D’Andre Swift. Mix this opportunity with the fact that the Packers have one glaring weakness on their team, stopping the run, and you have a startable asset in AP. If you are in a pinch at running back this could be the surprise good play on the week.
Kirk Cousins
(35% Rostered on Yahoo) vs Indianapolis Colts
Kirk Cousins looked shaky in the first half of the Green Bay Packer game but turned it on in garbage time to finish the week with a very solid performance. He gets to go up against the weak Colts’ secondary who gave up 19/20 completions to Gardner Minshew. I also project this game to be another passing game script for the Vikings due to the fact that their defense looks atrocious. A very reasonable start at the QB position that should end the week in the top 15, and would be a perfect pickup in 2QB leagues.
Mitchell Trubisky
(7% Rostered on Yahoo) vs New York Giants
Continuing with our NFC North theme, Trubisky is a great option at QB this week. He showed that he is good enough to be fantasy relevant against bad teams with his 3TD performance against the Lions. The Giants looked good with their front 7 but had no answer for the Steelers’ passing game last week. The same thing should ring true in this matchup and I love Trubisky as a QB2 for Superflex leagues. A perfect streaming option when the landscape could be very sparse.
Corey Davis
(20% Rostered on Yahoo) vs Jacksonville Jaguars
This may be more than a stream. AJ Brown is hurt and Corey Davis looks to be the number one for multiple weeks in this offense. However, if you are looking for a one week play I think that Davis can answer the call and be extremely solid, specifically in PPR formats. He should get a huge percentage of the target share with AJ Brown out, and already looked great in the Denver Broncos game. The Jacksonville D is nothing to ride home about and this could easily turn into another 100 yard game with touchdown potential.
Laviska Shenault Jr.
(16% Rostered on Yahoo) vs Tennessee Titans
Another great WR play this week. Shenault turned 4 targets into three receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown in his rookie debut. The Titans’ defense is good; however, they have major injuries in their secondary and that is where the Jags’ offense will attack. If they are able to shut down Chark, Shenault will be the next read and could have a great game. He tied Cole for the next most snaps after Chark, and in a passing game script, I love him as a streaming option.
Danny Amendola
(3% Rostered on Yahoo) vs Green Bay Packers
Yes, I just said that the Lions will try to run the ball and that is the Packers’ weakness. However, this game can turn ugly quickly, and with Golladay still out Amendola will get peppered with targets. This is a PPR play only, think a Jamison Crowder-like play. With how little Quentez Cephus did with his targets I expect the Lions to look for Amendola more in this game. If this turns into a blowout then Amendola could easily reach the 10 reception mark, and at that point, it literally does not matter what he does with those receptions because you have yourself a solid PPR play.
Tre’Quan Smith
(8% Rostered on Yahoo) vs Las Vegas Raiders
With Michael Thomas out, Tre’Quan Smith will be the secondary look behind Emmanuel Sanders for Drew Brees. I expect Smith to get quite a few targets in this matchup. The benefit of starting Smith is that even with low volume he can have great production, as he has big playability. However, again, he should be targeted enough to be a safe play regardless in PPR, due to Micahel Thomas’ injury. The Raiders’ secondary is weak and Smith should have no problem connecting with Brees.
Jalen Reagor
(35% Rostered on Yahoo) Vs Los Angeles Rams
Reagor should be rostered, but if he is not and you need a streaming option at the WR position, then look no further. Reagor should be the literal number one target at the WR spot for Wentz. Despite being a rookie, he is the most talented WR on the team and one of the only healthy ones. While Sanders, Ertz, and Goedert will soak up a good amount of the target share, there will be plenty left for Reagor. Not to mention that he has game-breaking speed and after the catch ability that also makes him a huge threat in fantasy to put up week winning numbers. I love this streaming option if he is available.
