Top 8 Fantasy Football Streamers Week 3 (PPR): Jeff Wilson Jr. to lead the 49ers Backfield

There were tons of injuries last week leaving many fantasy players stuck with incomplete lineups going into Week 3. However, with injuries come opportunities for the undrafted and unknown players. The waiver wire should be filled with players either dropped from other squads or who slipped through the cracks of the Wednesday waivers. I am here to help you navigate that landscape and pick up the 8 best streamers on the week.

Jeff Wilson Jr.

vs New York Giants

With both Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman going down last week, the 49ers were only left with Jerrick McKinnon to run the ball. McKinnon has struggled with health and Shanahan does not want to overdo his touches. This means that Wilson should get plenty of snaps and carries against a bad Giants’ defense. This is the perfect opportunity to take a flier if you lost one of the big-name backs last week and failed to secure the handcuff. Wilson should have a solid floor with huge touchdown upside.

Frank Gore

Vs Indianapolis Colts

Gore got the ball 21 times against the 49ers and ended with an okay week. If you are in a deeper league Frank Gore offers you a safe floor to make sure that you get some kind of production out of your RB slot. While this play has little to no upside, Adam Gase’s inept coaching style has led him to rely on Frank Gore. This is not a nice play but it works in an extremely limited RB landscape.

Mitchell Trubisky

Vs Atlanta Falcons

Another good matchup for Bears QB, Mitchell Trubisky, leads him to being a streaming option for Week 3. While he is not the most talented QB in the world he is heading into his third straight plus matchup. Weapons Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, and Darrel Mooney have really helped Trubisky to be fantasy relevant in the past two matchups and I expect the same in this game. The matchup should have more scoring than the previous game against the Giants and is against a worse pass defense. Throw Trubisky in your lineup if you need an emergency QB.

Ben Roethlisberger

Vs Houston Texans

Ben Roethlisberger is the kind of QB you could probably start every week. However, if he is on your WW there are very few QBs that I would be starting over him. He has an insanely good matchup against this Texans’ defense. His weapons are elite and while the Steelers like to run the ball they have already thrown for 5 touchdowns and are one of the teams who are not afraid to pass in the red zone. Big Ben should be the best streaming option this week, if available.

Corey Davis

Vs Minnesota Vikings

Corey Davis is going to be the #1 WR with AJ Brown out for another week. He is going against a weak Minnesota Vikings’ secondary who is going to be playing second string CBs due to the injuries to Mike Hughes and Cameron Dantzler. The Vikings have struggled to cover all WRs and Corey Davis should feast with his elite physical ability.

Corey Davis meanwhile has looked great against much better secondaries in the Broncos and Jaguars. In both games he often went up against top tier CBs and was able to create enough separation and turn himself into the primary target for Tannehill. This week gives you such a great combination of matchup, talent, and opportunity with Corey Davis. It might even be one of those weeks where you pick up a streaming option and then end the week with great value to trade with.

DeSean Jackson

Vs Philadelphia Eagles

Jackson is the only good and healthy WR for Carson Wentz. Wentz has had to rely on Ertz, Goedert, and Sanders for the receiving work; however, he will still take shots down the field to Jackson. Jackson reeled in 6 catches on 9 targets last game against a good Rams’ secondary. Now Jackson gets the benefit of playing a horrible Bengals’ defense and secondary that should allow him to have an explosive week. I think that Jackson has a great floor with a ridiculous ceiling this week.

Jordan Reed

Vs New York Giants

George Kittle will be out with injury again and for you that means streaming Jordan Reed at TE. Last game without Kittle, Reed hauled in two touchdowns and 50 yards on 8 targets. The 49ers are already depleted when it comes to weapons and Jordan Reed may very well be the best receiving option on the team at the moment. Reed excelled in Washington when healthy, and he looks to be excelling again with the 49ers. I am extremely confident in the Reed play again this week.

Logan Thomas

Vs Cleveland Browns

Logan Thomas is tied for the most targets on his team with 17. It is obvious that Haskins wants to lean on his big bodied TE all over the field, but especially in the red zone. Thomas has already recorded a TD and is a lock to be one of Haskins’ favorite targets. This is a deeper league play as there are plenty of starting TEs available. However, in a 14 team league I love Logan Thomas to be a surprise equalizer in your TE slot against some of the bigger names. A solid floor with touch down upside is always great to have.

Bonus Streaming DST of the Week: Washington Football Team

If you are looking for a great option at the defensive slot for this week, the Washington Football Team has a great matchup against the Browns. The front 4 of Washington looks ferocious in both stopping the run and creating pressure on the QB. The Browns are a team that rely on the run and Baker is a QB who has not played well when under heavy pressure. This matchup could not get any more perfect for Washington. They should be widely available and are a great streaming candidate for the week.
