Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills

@ NYJ

First, let us talk about the Buffalo Bills’ defense. The defense has struggled a bit the past couple of weeks. However, they were taking on two of the most efficient offenses in the league. The Titans and Chiefs give any team a run for their money when it comes to putting up points. Also, the Bills were not horrible in those games. Turnovers are what caused the opposing offenses to have such favorable field position and put up tons of points.

While the Bills’ defense is decent, the more important thing about this play is the fact that they have the greatest matchup in the history of DST, facing off against the 2020 Jets. The Jets are a team that is so dedicated to the tank that they refuse to fire a coach that everyone hates because they are so confident that he cannot win a game, which means that he cannot ruin getting the 1st overall draft pick. The Jets were just shut out by the Miami Dolphins, a defense that can be argued as on par with the Bills’ defense. The Bills will cause turnovers, sack Darnold/Flacco, and keep this game under 14 points on the Jets’ side of the scoreboard. Play the Bills with extreme confidence that this game is already a wrap.

Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears

@ LAR

The Bears’ defense is criminally underrated, and I will keep typing that out until the perception changes. Last week I had them higher rated than the expert consensus, and they came through. I am going right back to that take, rating them 9 spots higher than most. This defense is star-studded and elite all around. They are the 5th best-ranked defense by DVOA, and even by standard metrics, they have given up the 5th least yards per play.

The Rams were torn apart by a middling 49ers defense, a defense that has injuries all over the field. The Bears will have no problem repeating what the 49ers did to this offense. Khalil Mack should have himself a day, and the secondary will feast on Goff.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles

Vs NYG

The Eagles defense is nothing special. However, this is all about getting to play the turnover machine that is Daniel Jones. The Eagles are just about guaranteed multiple turnovers in the game. That is multiple chances at defensive touchdowns and 4+ points on its own. The Giants will not be able to run on the Eagles front and will be forced into passing downs. This is where the Eagles will get their TOs. I do not see how this turns into a high-scoring game with both teams’ offenses looking pathetic.

Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles Rams

Vs CHI

While I think that the Bears’ defense dominates the Rams, I still believe the Rams’ DST is not a bad play. This game will be very low scoring, and Foles has been prone to mistakes this season. Aaron Donald and his line should be able to notch a couple of sacks. I also believe that the chance for interceptions is extremely high. I am not as excited about this play, but I think it is one of the week’s better floor plays. If you just want a defense not to lose you your fantasy game, the Rams have you covered.

Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs

@ DEN

Kansas City has been the surprise defense of the year. They rank 10th in DVOA and have caused 9 turnovers, which is 2 above the league average. The Broncos are always going to be a favorable matchup for DST plays, as Vic Fangio wants to keep the game low scoring. On top of this, Drew Lock is a gunslinger, he may burn you for a couple of TDs, but he consistently turns the ball over. The strength of the Broncos’ offense is rushing; however, the Chiefs are 8th best in yards per carry allowed. This matchup is great for the Kansas City defense, and their DST is a top tier play.

New England Patriots

New England Patriots

Vs SF

The Patriots defense is still one of the elite groups in the NFL. The 49ers played decently well against the Rams, but I believe that Bill Belichick will draw up a plan for Kyle Shanahan’s run game and stop them. If you stop the 49ers from rushing on your defense, you will win the game. When a team is as reliant on one facet of their offense as the 49ers are, oftentimes, these are the teams that the Patriots can dominate. Patriots have a pretty decent floor and a ceiling that is reliant on Jimmy G interceptions.

Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers

Vs JAC

The Chargers defense has talent. The team has not been playing well, but they seemingly match up well against this struggling Jacksonville squad. Where I see the most amount of points scored for the Chargers’ DST is the sack category. I do not believe that this offensive line can block Bosa off the outside, and even without Melvin Ingram, the line as a whole has played well. I would not say that the Chargers are a floor play, as I believe that Minshew and his multitude of receiving weapons could put up big points in this one. However, there is a ceiling to be had here with sacks, interceptions, and fumbles. I think that the Chargers DST become a sneaky good play this week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

@ LV

Tampa Bay’s defense, similarly to Kansas City, has been a huge surprise. They absolutely dominated one of the best offenses in football, in the Packers. Whenever you get Rodgers to throw one pick, you had a great day, but the fact that they had two interceptions and a pick-6 is unheard of. In this game against Carr and Gruden, I believe that they will give up points. However, I also think that they will once again get multiple sacks and turnovers. Similarly to the Chargers, this is a ceiling, not a floor play, as the point total may climb too high. However, I have confidence in the Bucs’ playmaking ability to score you big points.

washington football team 1

Washington Football Team

Vs DAL

Washington keeps finding their way on the list due to the fact that their front 7 is so elite, and their opponents in the NFC East are so bad. Dallas, led by Andy Dalton, looks like a shell of its former self. Now, only 10 months into his tenure, there are rumors of the entire locker room turning their back on McCarthy. This Washington Football Team defense will be able to get pressure and force sacks, especially with Zach Martin out. Sacks were something that Washington did so well the first three weeks of the season but have failed to deliver on since. If they do get these sacks, then eventually, they will cause turnovers in the way of fumbles or interceptions. I like Washington as a hail mary play to score huge like they did Week 1, and they should be available to pick up.
