Week 10 Kicker Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds: Jason Sanders Emerging A As Top Kicker

Nick Folk went big for the Patriots in their come from behind win against the Jets. We have to ask how the Patriots got into the situation against the worst team in the league, but nonetheless, Folk converted on a game-winning 51-yard field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter. He paired that conversion with two other field goals and three extra points to be the top-scoring kicker of the week. He was on my list of players last week, so is he a candidate moving forward as the Cam Newton begins to heat up with the Patriots’ offense? Greg Zuerlein was also a top scorer for the week with four field goals and an extra point. Surprisingly, the Cowboys found ways to put points on the board against the Steelers’ defense who has been one of the best in the league. Week 10 marks the near end of the fantasy season, and you will benefit from the few extra points a kicker can give you. Playing the correct one can be the difference between a playoff appearance and falling short. Here are some waiver wire options if you are in need of a kicker this week.

Jason Sanders, Miami Dolphins

Opponent: Los Angeles Chargers
Own %: 24.1

Jason SandersJason Sanders jutted into the second-leading scorer among kickers with a big game last week with two 50+ yard field goals. To add to that, they have another good matchup against the Chargers who have allowed the ninth-most points to kickers this season. On average, they have allowed 2.5 field-goal attempts per game, and with Sanders being perfect on the season, that will be all he needs to have an explosive game. The Dolphins’ offense has been moving more fluently with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. With how many points the Dolphins put up each week, Sanders’ floor is high and all it will take is a couple of field goals to put him over the top which the Chargers have been susceptible to.

Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers

Opponent: Jacksonville Jaguars
Own %: 40.8

mason crosbyAfter a couple of weeks with no field goal attempts due to the Packers’ touchdown success rate, Mason Crosby hit both field-goal attempts last week, including one from 50+ yards. If you want a kicker attached to a good offense, Crosby is your guy as the Packers are bound to score a lot of points each game. It is a matter of if there will be any field goals or not that gives Crosby his value. The Jaguars have allowed the third-most points to kickers this season as their defense has failed to stop many offenses. This game could turn into another touchdown fest as the Packers are likely to roll through the Jags, but on the off-chance that a couple of stops are made before the endzone could result in a top-scoring performance for Crosby who has done it before.

Randy Bullock, Cincinnati Bengals

Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers
Own %: 36.8

Randy BullockComing out of their bye week, the Bengals are looking to keep improving upon their win against the Titans with a matchup against the Steelers. For Randy Bullock, he has emerged as a top kicker in the league with the volume he gets per game. He has converted on all 11 extra point attempts over the past three games. On the season, he has only missed two field goals out of 20 attempts. There has been just one game in which he has not scored a decent amount of points. The Steelers have been one of the best defenses in the league, but after seeing Greg Zuerlein put up so many points last week against them, maybe something has changed. With how many big games Bullock has had this year, it leads me to believe that a tough defense will only allow for more field goal opportunities.

Brandon McManus, Denver Broncos

Opponent: Las Vegas Raiders
Own %: 45.5

Brandon McManusBrandon McManus went through a couple of weeks with decent numbers, but not the insane numbers he put up in the middle of the season. As fantasy owners began dropping off on him, he responded with two 40+ yard field goals and three extra points last week to continue his top 10 kicker run. The Broncos’ offense is hard to judge, but when they find their groove, it paves the way for McManus to put up huge numbers. He has been perfect since his one miss in week 2 and has hit six field goals in a game this season. His volume has been massive for him and they are not only short field goals, but 40 and 50+ yard field goals which give additional points depending on your league settings. The Raiders are just an average matchup, but with how McManus has played, that means he will be scoring above average.

Graham Gano, New York Giants

Opponent: Philadelphia Eagles
Own %: 19.4

Graham Gano is another kicker who dropped off the past few weeks as the Giants have struggled offensively, but a great week last week has put him back as a top 5 fantasy kicker in the league. He has not missed a field goal since week 2 and has the chance to get several opportunities against the Eagles this week. The Eagles pounced on the Giants a few weeks ago, but the game could have a completely different outcome knowing how the NFC East is. We can all agree that the Giants’ offense is not good which is what has benefited Gano so much. He is a risky pick because of that fact, but when it works, it pays off in huge ways. So if you are looking for a high-risk high reward kicker, Gano is your go-to guy this week.

Tyler Bass, Buffalo Bills

Opponent: Arizona Cardinals
Own %: 9.2

Joey SlyeAfter a bland start to the season for Tyler Bass, his volume has jumped up the past three weeks. In two of the last three weeks, he has attempted at least four field goals. The problem with Bass is his consistency as he has missed six field goals on the season. What balances that out is how much the Bills have been scoring. He has a solid floor with how red-zone drives the Bills have put together. With his field goal volume up, he has almost risen to a top 10 fantasy kicker on the season. The upcoming game against the Cardinals is an average matchup for Bass, but with the trajectory of his usage, there is an argument for starting him this week.
