Week 12 Kicker Rankings & Pickups: Wil Lutz Checks In At Number One

We are coming off of a very high scoring week for kickers as there were four in double-digits and eight over nine fantasy points. We also had several produce solid eight-point fantasy days as well. Rodrigo Blankenship had the big day with 13 fantasy points including a game-winner against the Packers in overtime. Week 12 has five games that are not on Sunday. The game in Philadelphia is the only one looking like it could have some rough weather for kickers. Otherwise, it is a fairly clean week and there are no bye weeks to deal with.

Top Week 12 Kickers

Wil Lutz gets the Broncos this week, who have allowed 27 field goal attempts in ten games this season. Lutz has been automatic this season, averaging 9.6 fantasy points per game. He is the top option this week and the Saints offense moved the ball well with Hill under center. I would expect more of the same, even against a tougher defensive unit. Justin Tucker still remains a top option even on an offense that is struggling in a matchup against the Steelers. He still managed eight points in the last meeting and is coming off a three-field goal game against the Titans. The offense will move the ball enough to give him chances.

Younghoe Koo and Daniel Carlson are in the same stadium this week as the Raiders travel to Atlanta. This is going to be a high-scoring affair between the two teams and the kickers will have a strong chance at multiple attempts. In general this season, Carlson ranks third in scoring while Koo is right behind him ranking 5th. Koo has also missed a game, but is 24 of 25 on the season and getting plenty of chances each week. Matt Prater was a real let down this past week but this is a high scoring game where Prater should have a few chances against the Texans. The Lions offense was abysmal this past week and a soft Houston defense should get them back on track.

Jason Sanders gets the best overall matchup for kickers this season, as they face the Jets. New York has allowed 26 attempts in ten games and 9.6 fantasy points per game. Sanders has been a strong fantasy option for the year with the 6th most fantasy points per game. Fire him up again with confidence. Joey Slye ranks 7th in scoring this season as he has made 22 of 27 attempts on the year. He will face a Vikings team allowing 2.5 attempts per game on the year. They are allowing the second-most fantasy points to kickers this season. The total on that game is one of the higher ones on the slate, which bodes well for everybody involved.

Streaming Options

Mason Crosby (42%) is one of the go-to options this week with a matchup against the Bears. Chicago has been almost a bend don’t break type of defense which has resulted in kickers having nearly three field goal attempts per game on the season. They have allowed 32 total and the 4th most fantasy points per game on the season. Crosby is available in over half of leagues and a strong option. Zane Gonzalez (38%) is an excellent play this week for the Cardinals and an offense that moves the ball well. They face the Patriots, who have allowed two attempts per game to kickers and the 10th most fantasy points per game. Gonzalez has averaged over eight fantasy points per game this season. Tyler Bass (9%) is free everywhere and has produced 21, 6, 14, and 18 fantasy point games in the last four games. The Chargers have allowed 22 attempts in 13 games this season and the Bills have one of the higher team totals on the slate.

Tough Week 12 Kicking Matchups

Stephen Gostkowski has been very inconsistent this season but has had a few big games to balance out his averages. He gets a tough matchup against the Colts, who have allowed the 4th fewest fantasy points per game to kickers this season and only 15 attempts in 10 games. Gostkowski is 5 of 7 from 1-39 yards and 4 of 9 from 40-49 yards but has oddly made 6 of 7 from 50+ yards. He has had a very up and down season. Chris Boswell gets the Ravens this week, granted they play, and the Ravens are holding kickers to the fewest fantasy points per game this season and kickers have had just 14 attempts and 18 extra-point attempts against this group. Kaimi Fairbairn is in a high total game but the Lions allow so much production that ends up in touchdowns it has hurt opposing kickers. There are too many better options despite the high total.
