Great Week 11

John Brown clearly led the charge in receivers this week. He ate up the Dolphins already weak defense with his 9 receptions for 137 yards and 2 touchdowns. This marked Brown’s biggest game of the season in a year that has shown great success. He is clearly Josh Allen’s favorite target this year and has the most reception touchdowns on the team. His lowest yard total for a game this season is 51 on 4 receptions which puts his floor higher than most. This week marked where his ceiling is which is also very high. John Brown is a good consistent start in fantasy each week even when playing touch defenses like the Patriots. The Bills have a tougher matchup next week against the Broncos, but they are coming off a loss in which they blew a 20+ point lead. Their defense got exploited by both Stefon Diggs and Dalvin Cook. John Brown is the playmaker for the Bills to take control of this game. D.J. Chark also had a big game this past week against the Colts. The Colts have an above average pass defense which only makes this more impressive. Chark had 8 receptions for 104 yards with 2 touchdowns which were the only two touchdowns for the Jaguars. With Nick Foles back, Chark’s value has gone up. In the Jags previous game before this week, Chark set his floor with just 4 receptions for 32 yards, but Foles return has gotten Chark back on track for the kind of receiver he is. If this is what to expect in coming games, having Chark on your team will give a significant boost coming into the playoffs. Next week, the Jaguars play the Titans who rank in the middle of the pack in terms of passing yards allowed per game. This game will serve as an even better indicator if Chark is the real deal moving forward with Foles back. I also wanted to highlight Randall Cobb this week. He is technically the #3 receiver for the Cowboys but still had a huge game. The Lions are one of the worst teams against the pass which made this game possible, but Cobb still was able to rack up 115 yards on 4 receptions and a touchdown. Michael Gallup led the Cowboys in receiving but Cobb’s big game gives him a significant boost in fantasy value. I wouldn’t consider him startable, but he is a good player to have stashed away in case of an injury to either Gallup or Amari Cooper which would give him a bigger market share of targets. But until then, I would just keep an eye out. The Cowboys next game against the Patriots definitely makes him not start worthy.

Good Matchups

I have Julio Jones at number one for a reason. Last week, I had Michael Thomas at number one because of his matchup against the Buccaneers who have been among the worst against the pass. Thomas hauled in 8 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown which was only to be expected. They have allowed the most receiving touchdowns this season which significantly raises every receiver on the team facing them. Julio Jones and the Falcons take on the Bucs this week and I would expect a similar game for him as Thomas had. Calvin Ridley took in the majority of receptions last week, but Jones is clearly the number one receiver on the team. Matt Ryan will be looking his way plenty of times in this game as is the strategy for every team against the Bucs. Terry McLaurin also should have a big game this week. The Redskins play the Lions this week who just gave up 444 passing yards to Dak Prescott. While it is almost impossible that Dwayne Haskins will throw for 400+ yards, almost all of his yardage will be going to McLaurin. With Paul Richardson the injured reserve list, McLaurin’s market share will be going up. The Lions’ secondary has looked very weak this season, especially after trading away their top safety, Quandre Diggs. Everything looks right for McLaurin to blast off this week.

Tough Matchups

After coming off a big game through the air last week, the Cowboys will have a lot harder time this week against the Patriots. The Patriots hold the lowest passing touchdown total in the league and second-lowest passing yards per game. Amari Cooper took a backseat in the receiving game last week and is likely to see about the same load again. The Patriots have a way to completely stifle teams, and Cooper’s most recent game doesn’t give owners any better reason to lean on him. With Cooper’s amount of touchdowns, it is hard to sit him and I wouldn’t this week, but it is important to note the touch matchup this week. Another top fantasy receiver, Davante Adams, faces a tough matchup this week. Adams and the Packers are coming off a bye week to help rest up. Adams missed four games in the middle of the season with a toe injury. His return to action has shown promise. In both games, he had 7 receptions. The difference was the efficiency of the receptions. In their last game, Adams had 118 yards. This is likely to regress this week as they face the 49ers who are the best defense against the pass.
