Week 14 Waiver Wire Top Pickups & Adds: Keke Coutee Sees Instant Production In Wake Of Fuller Suspension
We have made it through all the chaos and now we are entering the fantasy football playoff weeks. The best thing to do to prepare for a run is to get your bench in order, especially as postponed games have become more frequent. While we haven’t lost a game yet, things were dangerously close this past week. Having options off your bench to replace at a moment’s notice is going to make things easier for you. I will dive into a few names that have strong playoff runs to at least be kept on the bench. Injuries have been somewhat quiet over the last few weeks but we know they can happen at any moment. Get these names and get ready for a playoff battle. Tune into our Week 14 fantasy football rankings & projections to help guide you throughout the week with any decisions.
Jared Goff – Los Angeles Rams
Average % Rostered: 47%, FAAB: 5%
Jared Goff is the newest quarterback add for those looking to acquire a backup or potential streaming option over the next few weeks. Goff has been floating around the 10-15 range for most of the year when it comes to scoring. We know the inconsistencies and I am hoping he gets that game out of the way against the Patriots before getting the matchups against Seattle, New York, and Arizona. Goff has the Patriots next week, but weeks 15, 16, and 17 are against bottom-12 pass defenses. They have given up a ton of fantasy points and both the Jets and the Seahawks rank bottom five in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks this season.
Phillip Lindsay – Denver Broncos
Average % Rostered: 46%, FAAB: 3%
The committee approach with Melvin Gordon hasn’t made this a fun backfield to do with, but I love the matchups for Denver’s backs in the next few weeks. They will get the Panthers, Bills, and Chargers. For those playing in Week 17, they get Las Vegas. These defenses rank 18th, 22nd, 31st, and 30th in DVOA against the run. The Bills, Raiders, and Panthers all rank in the bottom ten in fantasy points allowed to running backs. The Chargers are just sitting right outside. 10-14 touches in these matchups would be a plus.
Damien Harris – New England Patriots
Average % Rostered: 56%, FAAB: 7%
Damien Harris has really grabbed a hold of this backfield and has double-digit rushing attempts in every week since Week 6. He has four double-digit fantasy point games in that span and faces a pretty good schedule over the next few weeks. The Rams will be a tough matchup but the Bills and Dolphins rank 22nd and 25th against the run this season. Harris should continue to see 15ish touches every week and remains touchdown dependent but you can certainly do worse.
Cam Akers – Los Angeles Rams
Average % Rostered: 28%, FAAB: 7%
The Cam Akers train has left the station and you might be able to hop on the door and hitch a ride. Against Arizona, he had 22 touches, which is a career-high. He now has back-to-back double-digit weeks in fantasy points. We have generally seen a split workload in Los Angeles and while Akers has been playing well, it wasn’t really a hot-hand situation against Arizona, he just had the heavy workload. The Rams get the Jets and Patriots over the next two games, and they are teams to target with backs.
Corey Davis – Tennessee Titans
Average % Rostered: 54%, FAAB: 10%
Hopefully, this is the last week 50% of people pick up Corey Davis. He is coming off a monster game and has been producing all year long. Not sure why people have been avoiding him even if the position is deep. Davis now has double-digit fantasy point games in all but one game and that was against Chicago. He will face the Jaguars, Lions, Packers, and Texans over the final four weeks of the season. This is a great schedule for the Titans as a whole.
Keke Coutee – Houston Texans
Average % Rostered: 28%, FAAB: 7%
With the Will Fuller suspension, Keke Coutee jumped right into a big role for the Houston offense. The positive continues to be these game scripts where the Texans defense can’t stop anybody and they don’t have a run game to really control the clock with. Coutee saw nine targets, catching 8 of them for 141 yards. He will face Chicago next week, yet that defense might have given up on the season after allowing the Lions to hang 40 on them. Houston will then face the Colts again, Cincinnati, and Tennessee. The Bengals and Titans have struggled all year against the pass.
T.Y. Hilton – Indianapolis Colts
Average % Rostered: 45%, FAAB: 5%
Continuing the trend of wide receivers in good matchups the rest of the way, T.Y. Hilton is finding a nice groove in the middle of a stretch against poor secondaries. The Colts torched Houston this past week and Hilton had an 8-110-1 line. This is now back to back weeks with big gams as he posted 18.1 against the Titans. Indy faces the Raiders and Texans over the next two weeks. Both teams have very beatable secondaries and Hilton is a WR3 option the rest of the way.
Cole Kmet – Chicago Bears
Average % Rostered: 2%, FAAB: 1%
Most of the tight ends now have reached a high rostered percentage range where I am going to dig a bit deeper. Catch my tight end waiver wire piece to see some higher owned names that might be out there. With Chicago’s season basically wrapped up, Cole Kmet has started to creep up in snaps and targets. Jimmy Graham has been spending more time on the sideline. Kmet is one of the talented rookie tight ends and he is an interesting name the rest of the way. Chicago has Houston, Minnesota, and Jacksonville over the next three weeks.
