David Montgomery @ Green Bay

David Montgomery has had an up and down rookie season with a lot of low fantasy weeks. Partially the offensive line has struggled, and the play-calling has been suspect for most of the year. However he has seen steady work over the second half of the season, which was different from the first. This is a good  matchup for him against Green Bay, who rank 26th in DVOA against the run, and have allowed the 6th most fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this season. Running backs are averaging 122 yards per game and 4.7 YPC.

Raheem Mostert Vs. Atlanta

Raheem Mostert is coming off three strong games, and has four touchdowns over the last three outings. He faced some tougher defenses as well. Mostert has seen more touches of late despite healthy bodies being back. He should see 12+ touches this week, and yes he is relying on big plays and touchdowns, but this is a matchup where that can continue. Atlanta ranks 16th against the run, and have allowed some big games to backs this season.

Phillip Lindsay @ Kansas City

The running back upside against Kansas City is there, and Phillip Lindsay is still worth a look this week. The Chiefs are allowing the most PPR points per game to opposing backs this season. They rank 30th in DVOA against the run, allow 137 yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry. Lindsay is going to be around a 15 touch back this week, which isn’t bad, but not great either. However, Lindsay has some potential to hit 15 fantasy points this week.

Duke Johnson @ Tennessee

Receiving backs have had a lot of success against Tennessee this week, and they have added up the second most receptions against the Titans this season. Houston’s defense continues to get exploited, and I don’t think we will see a ton of Carlos Hyde this week if they are trailing. Johnson continues to have volatile touches, but does have 14 targets over the last two games. With the Titans allowing the 11th most PPR points per game, Johnson should see enough work to be a FLEX play this week.

Marlon Mack @ New Orleans

The Colts are a mess right now on both sides of the ball, and that isn’t ideal for Marlon Mack. Given he has very little work in the passing game, this hinders his upside in negative game script games. The Saints have allowed the 8th fewest fantasy points per game to opposing backs this season, and rank 10th in DVOA. Opposing backs are only averaging 21.8 rushing attempts per game against the Saints, which is the second fewest, and they are holding backs to under 100 yards per game.

Joe Mixon Vs. New England

Opposing running backs are averaging 16.1 fantasy points per game against the running backs, which is the fewest in the league. They rank sixth against the run, and they are allowing 93 rushing yards per game, and just 22 rushing attempts against. Mixon’s workload has been strong of late, and the touchdowns started to come around, but this spot is just tough for him to produce a solid game. Now if you are on limited options, Mixon is worth starting, but if you have names above Mixon in my rankings, fire away there.

Adrian Peterson Vs. Washington

With no Derrius Guice this week and the rest of the year, Adrian Peterson will go back to having normal touches. I don’t love Adrian Peterson this week against the Eagles, who have allowed the sixth fewest fantasy points per game to opposing backs. They rank 8th against the run, allowing 89 rushing yards per game, and just four yards per carry. Peterson is coming off of back to back strong games against bottom ten rush defenses, but this isn’t the case anymore here. I expect a big drop off in rushing production this week.

LeSean McCoy Vs. Denver

Damien Williams is reportedly testing out his ribs in practice, which would throw another body in the mix this week. However, even if he is out, Spencer Ware out-snapped LeSean McCoy, and Darwin Thompson almost had three less. McCoy had 12 touches, but that isn’t enough for me in this matchup to get excited. I don’t believe we will see a strong performance from any of the Chiefs backs this week.
