Week 16 RB Waiver Pickups & Adds: Jeff Wilson Jr. Ready To Roll In Fantasy Championships

We have a few running back options now that opened up this week. Le’Veon Bell will step into a larger role with CEH out, and we saw Raheem Mostert leave the game against Dallas. There are also a couple of options to monitor injury situations where a clearer role could emerge in Week 16. I am not going to get much into FAAB this week, given it is Week 16, and there might be only a few bucks left as it is, or you might have a ton of money where you can outbid. Either way, if you are looking for options, that should mean that you have some championship games. There are a few backs you might be able to slot in that can get 15+ touches.

Le’Veon Bell – Kansas City Chiefs

With Clyde Edwards-Helaire likely shut down for the year after what looked to be a nasty injury, Le’Veon Bell will take over. He has certainly lost a step, but still, an average-ish back getting 10+ touches should be on our radar. Bell is out there in more shallow leagues hovering around the 40% mark. Bell will face Atlanta this week, who actually is not a bad run defense but have allowed the 5th most receptions to running backs. Bell should get a few catches in there and has had some decent days on the ground despite limited touches. Bell is an RB2 or FLEX option this week.

Jeff Wilson Jr. – San Francisco 49ers

It continues to be a disappointing season for Raheem Mostert, and the 49ers injuries continue to pile up. Mostert left the week again, and Jeff Wilson took over as a lead back. Wilson rushed for 60 yards on 16 carries and also found the end zone. Running backs have always been successful in a Kyle Shanahan team, but a committee approach has often limited them in fantasy. Wilson getting 15 touches would be tremendous against the Cardinals. Keep an eye on this situation over the week as Wilson could become a solid FLEX option.

Tony Pollard – Dallas Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott was a surprise scratch this week. While he was dealing with an injury, all signs pointed to him suiting up for a normal workload. That wasn’t the case as Tony Pollard stepped in after he was ruled out. Pollard had an excellent day doing a lot of damage through the air but also ripping off a big run late. Pollard has looked fantastic this season and by far the more explosive play. Dallas plays Philly this week, who have allowed 23.9 PPR points per game over the last five weeks.

Salvon Ahmed – Miami Dolphins

Miami is a situation to monitor this week. We got Salvon Ahmed back from injury as he was filling in nicely as Myles Gaskin sat out for a few weeks but if Gaskin returns this week, then Ahmed isn’t startable. Ahmed has produced three double-digit fantasy point games in the four meaningful games he has played this season and the workload has been high. Miami also has a great matchup against the Raiders in Week 16 as they have allowed the 4th most fantasy points per game to running backs and rank dead last in DVOA against the run.
