Top 5 Fantasy Football Matchups for Week 16: Packers vs. Titans should be high scoring

Last week, in week 15, there were many high scoring games in the NFL. The Buccaneers’ wide receiver core nearly all scored within the top 25 for wide receiver points. The game between the Bears and the Vikings had both of their running backs in the top 3 of running backs fantasy points for the week too. Next week is the first week of fantasy football championships. Check out which games in week 16 should hold the best performances for fantasy football.

Houston Texans

Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals Run Games

The Houston Texans saw a big performance last week from David Johnson after he returned from an injury that kept him out in week 14. Last week, Johnson had 11 catches out of the backfield for 106 receiving yards to get him 24.3 fantasy points. This was his highest-scoring game of the year for fantasy, and it got him seventh in the running backs fantasy point standings. Next week, he and the Texans will take on the Bengals, who have allowed the tenth most points to running backs in fantasy football. Johnson has projected for 14.65 fantasy points.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off of one of the biggest upsets of the year, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers last game on Monday night football. They got a lot out of this game, including a stellar performance from Giovani Bernard in the backfield with 83 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. With Joe Mixon already declared out this week, Bernard will have most of the workload in the backfield. The Texans have allowed the second-most fantasy points to running backs this season, so Bernard should take advantage. He has projected for 9.9 fantasy points.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Passing Game vs. Detroit Lions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ passing game showed out against the Atlanta Falcons last weekend, who have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Antonio Brown led fantasy points for the bunch with 20.3 points from a 5-93-1 line. Mike Evans had the most receiving yards from a 6-110 line for 17 fantasy points. Chris Godwin rounded out the bunch with a 4-36-1 line for 13.6 fantasy points. The group will be taking on the Detroit Lions on the road, who will be missing two of their starting defensive backs to injured reserve. The Lions have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points this season to both quarterbacks and wide receivers. Owners should expect Tampa Bay to succeed in the passing game. Brown has projected 12, Godwin 13.2, and Evans 13 points next week.
Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs Passing Game vs. Atlanta Falcons

Andy Reid will most likely be passing the ball a whole lot in this game for two reasons. One reason being, the Falcons have a decent rushing defense and the second reason being that the Chiefs will be without their starting running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. However, this should be no problem for MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes, who is second in both quarterback fantasy points and average points per game. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, the fantasy leaders in both of their positions, should have outstanding games against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons allow the most fantasy points to quarterbacks and wide receivers this season. The Chiefs should have a successful game at home in week 16 to support their owners. Mahomes has projected for 28 points, Tyreek for 19.75, and Kelce for 20.1 points next week.
washington football team 1

Washington Football Team Run Game vs. Carolina Panthers

The Washington Football Team has been without Alex Smith in the passing game due to injury and Antonio Gibson due to turf toe. With Smith still out, the Football Team has looked to the running backs to take a step up in the offense. Last week, J.D McKissic put up 51 rushing yards, 9 catches for 56 yards, and one receiving touchdown too. He had the fourth-most fantasy points on the week for a running back with 25.7 fantasy points. Next week, the hope for Washington is that Antonio Gibson can return to the team while dealing with a turf toe injury that has kept him out of the last two games. Carolina has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points per game this season to running backs, so Washington will want to use their dominant three-down back to get them through the game. Gibson has projected for 12.45 fantasy points next week and McKissic has projected for 12 fantasy points.
Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers vs. Tennessee Titans

This week’s fantasy football game of the week is between the Green Bay Packers and the Tennessee Titans. Both of these teams are two of three teams to average 30+ points per game in the NFL this season. The Green Bay Packers have numerous players that will take advantage of this matchup. Davante Adams is second in wide receiver points this season and had himself just 11.2 points last week against the Panthers. Aaron Jones is fifth in running back points and put up 24.8 fantasy points last week. The Tennessee Titans have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks and wide receivers this season and the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs this year. This all bodes well for the Packers’ loaded group of skill players. Davante Adams has projected for 22 fantasy points, while Allen Lazard has also projected for 9.7 fantasy points. Aaron Jones has projected for 19.65 fantasy points too.
Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans have averaged the most points per game at 31.1 points per game this season as a team. The Titans will surely be taking advantage of the Packers’ rushing defense next week. The Packers have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season, and the Titans are a top-five rushing offense in the NFL, averaging over 160 rushing yards per game. Derrick Henry will be sure to take advantage of the matchup next week. Henry has the third most fantasy points this season for a running back and put up 25.2 points last week. Ryan Tannehill and his core of receivers should also be considered fantasy options, even though they will have a tough matchup with the Packers’ secondary. Tannehill has projected for 19.3 points next week. Derrick Henry has projected for 23.4 points as projected RB2. A.J Brown has projected for 16.2 points and Corey Davis has projected for 13.5 points. The Titans’ offense should be considered starters for fantasy football next week.
