Week 2 Top Options

Baltimore RavensBaltimore had a great start to the season with a thrashing of Miami, and will now get Arizona in their home opener. While Kyler Murray found his groove in the second half against Detroit, it was easy to get to him with this offensive line. He also showed rookie mistakes by not throwing the ball away. The Ravens defense are primed for a big week in fantasy. Next in line, and arguably the top defense of the week for Week 2 is Chicago on the road against Denver. The Broncos failed to generate much offense against the Raiders, and despite being back at home it is tough to see them putting up much of a fight. Their offensive line failed to protect Joe Flacco, who continued to show why he isn’t a respectable quarterback anymore. This game projects to be one of the lowest scoring games of the weekend, as both offenses have their issues.

New England hasn’t historically been a team that generates a ton of fantasy points due to their bend don’t break style of defense, but anyone facing Miami this season is going to be a top end option. After a tough Monday Night Football loss, Houston should bounce back against the Jaguars, who are now without Nick Foles. Houston at home should dominate this group, and even out these stats the the Saints racked up. This is also a great chance to pick up Houston as people either avoided in drafts or dropped for Week 1 against New Orleans. Kansas City should some defensive issues again in Week 1, but project to do well as a high ceiling offense for fantasy. You can also find safer plays like Buffalo, Dallas, and Denver who are in prime spots this week.

Streaming Options

Dallas CowboysThe Cowboys are rostered in under 30% of leagues, and while they are on the road, they get a Washington team that put the ball in Case Keenum‘s hands to win. Philadelphia allowed 27 points and big passing outcomes, but this Dallas secondary is far better. Washington also opened up with one of the lower implied totals to start the week. Denver is still floating around 50% of leagues out there, and while they had a lackluster Week 1 against an opponent they should have done well against, they can rebound against Chicago. Mitch Trubisky has been a high variance quarterback since entering the league, and the Bears rushing attack did not look good in Week 1. This is still a very good Broncos defense, and they are worth a look in Week 2. Indianapolis, Tennessee, and Cleveland are also in play. The Jets offense didn’t show a ton of downfield threat, and the Browns defense is still in play for upside. The Titans-Colts game presents opportunity on both sides, and I would lean with the Titans defense at home.

Top Defenses To Sit This Week

Los Angeles RamsThe Rams are one of the highest owned defenses this week, but a matchup against the Saints is not one for big fantasy points. On average, defenses only accumulated 3.6 fantasy points per game when facing the Saints. Even though New Orleans is on the road, this is an offense that limits sacks and turnovers. There won’t be much of a chance for the Rams to get much fantasy production. On the flip side of that game, New Orleans is a popular fantasy offense that should take a seat. Like New Orleans, the Rams allowed 5.1 fantasy points per game to opposing defenses last season. Jacksonville is another one that I would pocket for a better day. While Houston’s offensive line is still allowing a ton of pressure and sacks, the Texans offense is putting up plenty of points and yards to negate those fantasy points. Philadelphia might have been asleep in the first half, but their pedestrian secondary is in trouble against the Atlanta Falcons passing attack.
