The Eagles were the  top fantasy football defense this week, and it wasn’t particularly close either. The Panthers, Patriots, Bills, and Vikings were all solid producing over ten fantasy points this week. Maybe it was London effect, but Chicago’s defense struggled, especially containing Josh Jacobs. Looking ahead at Week 6, there are not a ton of obvious defenses, outside of New England in the Thursday game against New York. Chicago and Buffalo are two stronger defenses on byes. You can find our season long rankings here.

Week 6 Top Options

New England PatriotsWhile the Giants have looked better with Daniel Jones under center, New England is still the top defense heading into this week. It is a short week for both sides, and we saw the Giants struggle against a strong Minnesota defense. Speaking of Minnesota, the Eagles are not usually a team that I target with defenses. They have been a bit turnover prone this season, and this is a tough spot to go play in. The Vikings held teams to under 20 points per game in each of the last four seasons, and that trend is continuing already this year. Granted they did play Oakland at home. The Saints are a streaming option if out there, but overall are a top tier defense I like this week. The Rams defense has looked bad the last few weeks, but this is a get right week for this team. They get San Francisco, who have allowed the 7th most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses.

Tennessee is in a great spot this week, even if they are on the road in Denver. The Titans defense has been the only consistent part of their team throughout the last few seasons. Denver is a lackluster offense that doesn’t present a ton of upside either.

Streaming Options

Baltimore RavensThere are a lot of defenses up to grabs for this week, so you should have your pick of the litter. Looking at higher owned teams if they are out there for you, New Orleans will travel on the road against Jacksonville. Carolina was able to get to him quite a bit, and overall this is a Saints rush defense that can at least limit Leonard Fournette. The Ravens have been injured week in and week out on the defensive side, and have struggled over the last few weeks. This is a get right game against the Bengals, especially back at home. Given the Bengals defense is bottom five, Baltimore should be able to jump out in front and push the Bengals to throw the ball, which creates more opportunity for fantasy points. Cincinnati has allowed the 4th most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses this season.

Top Defenses To Sit This Week

Jacksonville JaguarsThere are a few games to stay away from this week, but they are defenses that you likely dropped by now anyway. The Texans and Chiefs game is an obvious one. The Browns and Seahawks is also a game I will be staying away from. Both offenses are good enough to overcome average at the moment defenses, Seattle also has dropped off a bit more on the road and going east. Minnesota was a defense on the cusp, but I will be starting them this week at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. They match up well with them, and are also a stronger team at home. If you have been riding the 49ers wave over the first few weeks, take a break as they take on the Los Angeles Rams. While I won’t be expecting the performance from Teddy Bridgewater again, but the Saints offense is still good, and isn’t going to allow a ton of production.
