Week 7 Top Options
The Buffalo Bills are fresh off a bye, and will host the Miami Dolphins. This is an easy call as the Dolphins are allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses this season. Buffalo should control this game, and limit a weak Dolphins offense at home. Staying within the division, New England will travel to New York and face the Jets. Sam Darnold being back helps the offense a bit, but still they are no match for the top defense in the league. The Jets are allowing the second most fantasy points per game to defenses, but we have to think about Philadelphia’s big game, and the fact they have been playing a third string quarterback the last few weeks.
New Orleans’ defense continues to roll, and they will take on a lackluster offense on the road. Whether it is Chase Daniels or Mitch Trubisky, neither have been capable of leading this offense. The line has also struggled to give the running backs any sort of lanes to run through. San Francisco travels to Washington, and are a top option that I talk about more in the streaming options. You should also feel comfortable starting the Chargers and Jaguars defenses this week. The Bengals have allowed the 8th most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses this season. The Titans have allowed over 20 sacks already on the season, and benched Marcus Mariota for Ryan Tannehill last week. This offense is completely inept, and will struggle again against Los Angeles this week.
Streaming Options
Green Bay has a short week, but are an excellent defense to target this week as a streaming option. They are less than 40% owned, and will welcome the Raiders this week. As long as they can contain Josh Jacobs, which is basically where the Packers defense lacks, they have upside against Derek Carr and the passing attack. They are limited with options, and this Packers secondary is for real. San Francisco was either a drop before the Bye Week for some owners, but they have certainly established themselves as a legitimate top five defense. They do go on the road this week, but against Washington, this is a spot where they should dominate. The Redskins have allowed the fourth most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses this season. Not only are these defenses streaming options this week, they should be held onto over the next few weeks as they have favorable options.
If you are need of a pickup from a bottom of the barrel, I don’t mind the Chiefs. The Broncos offense is not in a good spot against the Chiefs. Denver’s offense will struggle to keep up, and ultimately will have to rely on Joe Flacco. That is not a spot to be in. Deeper leagues, look at the Chiefs on the Thursday Night Football game.
Top Defenses To Sit This Week
With a lot of the top defenses in good spots this week, this section is a bit dry. The Rams are a defense that I will look for better options for, as they will travel to Atlanta this week. Even with Matt Ryan turning the ball over at a high rate, it likely won’t be enough as they are scoring plenty of points this season. Los Angeles were dreadful on the offensive side this past week, but they get a rebound game against Atlanta, who are just getting destroyed through the air. This one will open as one of the highest totals on the slate, and should be a shootout on both sides. The Eagles and Cowboys are two defenses that are just not worth trusting right now, and they square off this week. Given they are over 50% owned, I will mention them as stay away options as it could turn into a shootout given that both offenses are putting up plenty of points. Then the honorable mention of sitting defenses against the Chiefs, who allow the fewest fantasy points to defenses.
