Star of Week 6
Stefon Diggs went absolutely off on Sunday against the Eagles. He had 167 receiving yards on 7 catches with 3 touchdowns. He also added an additional 18 yards of rushing. The Eagles matchup is always nice for receivers with their poor pass coverage, but it was almost impossible to expect this magnitude of an outcome. It is already impressive enough to get 167 yards, but with not one, not two, but three touchdowns is absolutely crazy. He will have a little tougher matchup next week against the Lions but nothing that he can’t handle. While you can’t expect another insane performance like this week, I wouldn’t put it past him to light it up this coming week.
Notable Names From Week 6
One of my sleepers for Week 6 was Curtis Samuel, and he made me look smart. In a high scoring game in London, Samuel had just 70 receiving yards on 4 receptions, but he is becoming the versatile weapon that he is capable of being. He also had a rushing touchdown to add to his point total. He will have the week off for Week 7 then have a tougher matchup against the 49ers who have looked exceptional this year. Another big game was from Terry McLaurin. The Redskins had a very favorable matchup against the Dolphins and McLaurin made the most of it. On 4 receptions, he had 100 yards with 2 touchdowns. This came against a bad defense, but the Redskins face a tough matchup next week against the 49ers. The 49ers have allowed the least amount of yards to receivers in the NFL, so I wouldn’t expect a crazy game.
Good Matchups
Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate find themselves in a great matchup against the Cardinals this week. It is hard to say when the Giants will have a good game, but they should find success through the air this week, mainly to these two. Sterling Shepard is currently battling a thumb injury that could prevent him from seeing the field this week. His absence would mean more work for Tate, but either way, both of these players are solid options this week. On the other side of this matchup, Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk. Kirk missed last week with an ankle injury so his status is still up in the air but like Shepard’s situation, Fitzgerald is set up nicely to have a huge game. With Kyler Murray starting to settle in as an NFL quarterback, the Cardinals’ receiving game has exploded. Fitzgerald should be ready for a ton of action this week.
Bad Matchups
Like I mentioned earlier, Terry McLaurin is facing the top pass coverage in the NFL. McLaurin is coming off a huge game but is likely to take a step back this week. The 49ers shut down Cooper Kupp, Brandin Cooks, and Robert Woods last week, so I would fully expect them to be able to handle McLaurin and the rest of the Redskins. I wouldn’t consider McLaurin a startable receiver this week. Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder also fall into the same category this week. Sam Darnold is back for the Jets but they face the Patriots this week who have only given up one receiving touchdown all season. I do not see a way in which either of these two gives you a viable amount of points this week so they are better off on your bench.
