Week 8 Kicker Rankings & Pickups: Daniel Carlson Is In A Strong Spot
Contents
There are plenty of strong options this week, as we have multiple games with 50+ over/under and in favorable conditions. Looking back at last week it was Tyler Bass of the Buffalo Bills who had the big week with 21 fantasy points. Matt Prater, Zane Gonzalez, and Harrison Butker had big weeks as well. Wil Lutz and Randy Bullock also had double-digit fantasy point games. There are several offenses that have fallen apart and that is going to have an impact on the kicker. See who you can look to cut.

Top Week 8 Kickers
While the Steelers don’t exactly have a great matchup set up for Justin Tucker by the numbers. Baltimore should still be able to move the ball this week and I can see them stalling a bit to give Tucker some chances. We have seen that more this season with Tucker where last season they were just so efficient he only kicked extra points. Rodrigo Blankenship continues to crush and if anybody dropped him after the bye week, go and grab him. He is averaging 10.5 fantasy points per game and has made 16 field goals in six games. He has made 5/6 from 40+ yards and missed only two on the season. He is also 15/15 on extra points.
Mason Crosby is currently listed as questionable for this week, so there is some concern. However, if he plays he is a strong option against the Vikings. Nobody is allowing more fantasy points to kickers than the Vikings this season and they have only played six games. Opposing kickers are averaging 12.3 fantasy points per game and have attempted 19 field goals and 17 extra points. The Packers should put up a big number and give Crosby plenty of chances.
Harrison Butker finally had a strong week and gets the Jets this week who have allowed an average of three field goal attempts per game this season. They have also allowed 9.9 fantasy points per game. The Chiefs could put up 50 this week as this is the largest spread I have seen in some time and the Jets could be headed for a winless season. Wil Lutz is in another strong spot this week against the Bears, who have allowed 24 field goal attempts in 7 games and the fourth-most fantasy points per game.

Stephen Gostkowski (50%) has had a very weird year. He is 5/5 from 50+ yards but 1/5 from 40-49. He has had plenty of chances with the Titans offense moving the ball with ease and that will be the case again this week against the Bengals. Opposing kickers against the Bengals are averaging 8.9 fantasy points per game, which is the 7th most in the league. Joey Slye (40%) is back this week and gets the Falcons on Thursday night. Carolina will move the ball well and while I hope for some touchdowns for my fantasy guys, Slye is going to be in a spot to get a few chances. Slye has been solid this season with four 10+ fantasy point weeks and he has multiple attempts in all but one game against Tampa.
Daniel Carlson (32%) is a strong add this week against the Browns. They have allowed three double-digit scorers and five out of the seven weeks they have allowed eight or more fantasy points to kickers. Carlson has averaged 9.5 fantasy points per game this season and is ninth in scoring despite having the bye week already. Jake Elliott (31%) is another strong option against a weak Cowboys defense, that has allowed 9.3 fantasy points per game to opposing kickers.
Tough Week 8 Kicking Matchups
Jason Sanders has been a solid kicker this season and coming off the bye week he will now kick for a Dolphins team led by a rookie quarterback. While Tua has a bright future, I don’t know how much I trust him with an irregular offseason and below-average offensive line against this Rams defense. The pass-rush is going to be a problem and I worry about the Dolphins moving the ball this week. This means less potential for Sanders, as Ryan Fitzpatrick was moving the ball with ease. The Rams have only allowed ten attempts over seven games this season, and kickers average just 5.6 fantasy points per game. The same can be said for Greg Zuerlein and this Dallas offense. While the Eagles are middle of the road in fantasy points allowed, they have allowed just 11 attempts over seven games. Greg Zuerlein is going to suffer along with the rest of the Cowboys offense. Dan Bailey is in a poor matchup this week going up against the Packers, who have allowed just 6.5 fantasy points per game.
