It is not a big of a bye week as Baltimore and Dallas are the two that will take the week off. Week 7 was another wild one, and injuries occurred again. Alvin Kamara and David Johnson took the week off, and both of their backups had big days. Patrick Mahomes is going to be out the next few weeks, while Drew Brees is expected to return. Be sure to catch all our Week 8 rankings and fantasy football advice.
Jamaal Williams – RB – Green Bay Packers
Average Ownership: 50%, FAAB: $5
Jamaal Williams is going to get enough touches each week to be viable, especially in PPR leagues. Since coming back healthy, he has posted 23 and 13 PPR point games. He has four double-digit PPR point games this season. The Packers have a strong schedule over the next six-seven weeks. They will take on Kansas City and the Chargers on the road before back at home against Carolina. None of the three teams have been great against the run this season. The tough matchup against San Francisco is after the bye week, and then they will face the Giants and Redskins. He is certainly touchdown dependent, but the workload is still hovering around 8-12 touches most weeks, and he is making the most of it.
Auden Tate – WR – Cincinnati Bengals
Average Ownership: 38%, FAAB: $2
It was a disastrous day for the Bengals offense, and Andy Dalton wasn’t doing anyone any favors. Auden Tate managed 9.5 PPR points on six targets, catching three passes for 65 receiving yards. He has seen six or more targets in each of the last five weeks. He has also been over 50 receiving yards in four of the five games. Tate has shown to be a reliable option even if this is a floor type of game. Ownership jumped about 20% from last week, so it is wise to go out and get him as things keep on rolling. As mentioned last week, Tate is going to be in favorable game scripts each week.
Ty Johnson – RB – Detroit Lions
Average Ownership: 1%, FAAB: $3
Kerryon Johnson left the game with a knee injury, and this could be a concern for Detroit and Johnson owners. Detroit cut CJ Anderson earlier this season in favor of Ty Johnson, and JD McKissic is going to be more of a third-down type of back, although Johnson had four catches in the passing game. He had 14 touches in the Week 7 loss to Minnesota, and had 9.7 PPR points. It was a tough matchup against one of the best run defenses, and Detroit was trailing most of the game. If Johnson misses any sort of time, Johnson is going to get some stable run. They also will take on the Giants and Raiders over the next two weeks.
Chase Edmonds – RB – Arizona Cardinals
Average Ownership: 17%, FAAB: $4
Injury reporting has been suspect, as David Johnson was active yet wasn’t healthy enough to play unless absolutely needed. With Johnson being banged up with various injuries, and coming off a big week Chase Edmonds is a clear cut pick up. It was an ugly weather game and the Cardinals were up from the start. It set up perfectly for Edmonds to get touches, and that he did. Even if Johnson suits up the next few weeks, I would not be surprised to see Edmonds starting to cut into his workload a bit. This is a downside to Johnson moving forward.
Latavius Murray – RB – New Orleans Saints
Average Ownership: 50%, FAAB: $3
Alvin Kamara ended up sitting out against Chicago which wasn’t a bad thing in a tough matchup. Kamara is dealing with a high ankle injury, and a knee injury. The Saints have a bye in Week 9, and play Arizona in Week 8. I would expect Kamara to sit out another week, as the Saints do not need to push him and get him some extra rest. Latavius Murray is ultimately a fill-in option for next week and then will take a back seat again moving forward, but given how the waiver wire is at the moment, he is still an add.
Mark Walton – RB – Miami Dolphins
Average Ownership: 3%, FAAB: $1
Mark Walton had 15 touches, following the 11 he had last week. He was successful on the ground against a tough Buffalo defense, rushing for 4.7 YPC. He wasn’t much of an impact in the passing game as last week, but the workload is still positive. Walton of course is a deep league pick up, or if you are riding the true zero RB strategy right now. Don’t go out and blow through FAAB money or make him a top priority in waiver wire runs, as he should just be a free agent grab to consider.
Jacoby Brissett – QB – Indianapolis Colts
Average Ownership: 48%, FAAB: $2
It was another big week for Jacoby Brissett as he tossed four touchdowns against the backup Texans secondary. Brissett now has only one game where he has tossed less than two touchdowns. He is up to 14 passing touchdowns on the season, and has been rather consistent. Brissett will continue to have a favorable schedule moving forward, and this Colts team despite all of the adversity, they continue to cruise.
Phillip Dorsett – WR – New England Patriots
Average Ownership: 30%, FAAB: $2
Phillip Dorsett was gaining steam before the hamstring injury against Washington. He is due back against the Jets, and I am writing this before the game, and will update after. However I like grabbing Dorsett, who had 16 targets in the last two games before his injury. This was post Antonio Brown, and Josh Gordon is battling injuries as well. New England’s pass-catching options are scarce, and Dorsett has a chance to break through if he can stay healthy.
