Last week, we had a single 200+ yard receiving game with one other receiver coming very close. I will get into those to players later, but there is also another standout receiver that I want to point out. There are some key top receivers on bye this coming week, so you may have to look at options to replace them. I will be going over my Week 9 wide receiver rankings and highlighting a few.

Top 2 of Week 8
The first player I want to highlight is Cooper Kupp. Kupp had 7 receptions for 220 yards and a touchdown. 5 out of 8 weeks have been monster weeks for Kupp, making him one of the most valuable fantasy receivers this season. He currently sits at 2nd in total receiving yards at 792, behind only Michael Thomas. His 5 touchdowns on the season are tied for sixth-best for wide receivers with 6 touchdowns being the most. The Rams have a Week 9 bye, so Kupp owners will be looking for replacements this week. The top scorer of Week 8 was Mike Evans with a huge day for him despite the Buccaneers losing. Evans had 11 receptions for 198 yards with 2 touchdowns. Evans has been a big hit or miss kind of receiver this year, but when he hits, he puts up top-scoring numbers. The randomness of when he booms or busts has made it difficult to project what Evans will do. His matchup this week should serve him nicely as the Seahawks have allowed the sixth-most receiving yards in the NFL, but it difficult to say. Jamies Winston has seemed to target either Chris Godwin or Mike Evans and switch between the two of them. Who will have a big day? That is up for debate.
Other Notable Receiver
Stefon Diggs has been a very good option for the last 3 weeks. In each game, he has had 7 receptions with over 140 yards. He had three touchdowns in Week 6 on top of 167 yards to give him one of the craziest receiving games of the season. After a slow start, Diggs has emerged as one of the top fantasy options at receiver. His game at Kansas City next week will give him more of a challenge as the Chiefs have developed a stronger defense since last year and Arrowhead Stadium provides a tough environment to play in. Can he keep up his 100+ yard streak? Adam Thielen is likely to miss next week’s matchup due to it coming up quick on Thursday. This leaves the door wide open for Diggs to continue his dominance.
Good Matchups
The best matchup award for Week 9 goes to Tyler Lockett. He and the Seahawks face off against the Buccaneers this week who have been the worst pass coverage defense in the NFL until last week when the Lions passed them by 1 yard. Nonetheless, Lockett is set up to have a big game this week. He has been one of the most consistent receivers this year with a big game sprinkled in there in Week 3 where he had 154 yards and a touchdown. Ever since Doug Baldwin declared his retirement in the off-season, Lockett has had to step up as the leading receiver for the Seahawks and has filled those shoes. Despite the Seahawks being a run-heavy offense (51.73% of plays), Lockett has been able to make Russell Wilson look like the best quarterback in the league. Tyreek Hill is also looking at a very good matchup this week. The Vikings possess a solid defense but have allowed the most touchdowns to receivers this season at 12. The likely return of Patrick Mahomes will also help. You can expect Hill to be running all over the field this week and be especially volatile near the endzone.
Bad Matchups
Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald face the best pass defense in the NFL this week in the 49ers. Kyler Murray’s recent struggle only adds to this horrible matchup. Fitzgerald has totaled 3 receptions for 20 yards in the past two games combined. Kirk returned last week with 8 receptions for 79 yards which were the bulk of the Cardinals’ offense in a poor showing against the Saints. The recent problems with the Cardinals’ offense and the worst matchup possible make these two unstartable. Marquise Brown and the Ravens face the best overall defense in the league, the Patriots. It will be very difficult for the Ravens to move the ball at all, but especially hard through the air as the Ravens are a more run-oriented offense (they run the ball on 52.02% of plays). Brown sat out the last two games for the Ravens before their bye week last week but is expected to return. The Patriots have allowed the third-least amount of receiving yards in the NFL with just one touchdown through the air. Brown has failed to put up any numbers close to his Week 1 stat line that made him one of the top waiver wire adds. There is virtually no chance that he can reach anywhere near 100 yards this week with the Patriots on the other side of the ball.
