Baltimore Ravens Team Stats 2019 Ravens Snaps

4-2, 1st AFC North

vs PIT

6:00 pm GMT, 12/29

There has been some turnover on the defensive side, which causes us to ask whether they will take a small step backwards. They made some moves to bulk up a few areas of need, by drafting Marquise Brown and signing Mark Ingram. The Ravens fully handed the keys to the car to Lamar Jackson last season, and there is nobody behind him that could take over if he struggles. Jackson added to the Ravens rushing attack, but what does he bring to the passing game? Baltimore has not exactly had a great passing attack over the last few decades, even with Joe Flacco under center.

Can Baltimore Survive The Defensive Departures?

The Ravens saw some names go like C.J. Mosley and Terrell Suggs. Both were a huge defensive presence, and their loss will be missed within the front seven. However, they did sign Earl Thomas to give them an elite safety in the secondary. Baltimore's defense should be just fine, and while they could take a step backwards, it won't be too drastic. They allowed 18.2 points per game last season which ranked second in the league. The Ravens have always been a defensive team, and it would be a complete shock for them to go a different direction. With the rushing attack they are supposed to have again, the defense would completely pair with what they are going for.

How Does Mark Ingram Add To The Rushing Attack?

We have dealt with plenty of committees over the last few seasons with Baltimore, and it looked like they were not sure who they wanted to go with at times. However, the signing of Mark Ingram is a step into some solidarity. Lamar Jackson had 695 rushing yards per game last season, and Gus Edwards had 718 yards. Both were super efficient, and eve Kenneth Dixon and Alex Collins produced. With Ingram coming in and the team investing in him, it is hard to think Ingram isn't going to be a 200+ carry guy this season. Ingram has been in a split workload down in New Orleans, and will fit right in with the rushing attack of Baltimore. It was a great landing spot, and this is a big addition for the Baltimore Ravens.

Is The Passing Game Doomed With Jackson?

Lamar Jackson struggled with the passing attack last season, which was his concern coming out of college. He generated most of his production on the ground, and torched bad college secondaries. He completed less than 60% of his passes last season, although that wasn't too much lower than Joe Flacco. They did draft Marquise Brown, but overall the Browns have a pretty pedestrian receiving core. This won't help Jackson out a lot, but there are some potential home run threats to combine with the heavy rushing attack. I wouldn't expect the Ravens to jump ahead in passing production, which has never been their case. With names like Joe Flacco and Trent Dilfer under center, you can understand why.
